Posted: 16 Apr 2012 11:41 AM PDT Walt Disney Pictures has released the first poster for Wreck-It Ralph, the studio's animated video game adventure hitting theaters November 2. John C. Reilly voices the title character, who is the villain in a Rampage-style video game, and longs to be the hero for once. Check out this one-sheet in all of its pixelated, 8-bit glory. Wreck-It Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game's perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes... so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan-win a medal-but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph's only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking glitch from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it's Game Over for the entire arcade? Wreck-It Ralph comes to theaters November 2nd, 2012 and stars John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch. The film is directed by Rich Moore. |

Jared Harris Set to Star in The Quiet Ones Posted: 16 Apr 2012 10:43 AM PDT Simon Oakes, Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media and President & CEO of Hammer and Guy East and Nigel Sinclair, Co-Chairmen of Exclusive Media, Hammer's parent company, announced today that Jared Harris has signed on to star as Professor Joseph Coupland in The Quiet Ones. The Quiet Ones is a supernatural thriller/horror to be directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal) which James Gay-Rees (Senna, Exit Through the Gift Shop) will produce in association with TPSC Films. With the story and original screenplay by Tom DeVille, revisions by Craig Rosenberg, Oren Moverman and most recently John Pogue, the film is currently in pre-production and will start shooting in June 2012 in the UK. Inspired by true events, The Quiet Ones tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy. The Quiet Ones marks Hammer's next production after the worldwide box office hit, The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe, which has taken over $120 million at the box-office worldwide to date. Jared Harris recently starred in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and hit TV series Mad Men. He will next be seen in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, currently in post-production. Exclusive Media's President of Worldwide Production & Acquisitions, Tobin Armbrust, is overseeing production alongside Director of Development, Shira Rockowitz. Alex Walton, President of International Sales and Distribution, is handling international sales. TPSC Film's President, Steven Chester Prince, is a producer on the project for the newly formed independent film division of The Traveling Picture Show Company. John Pogue said: "Jared Harris is an extraordinarily talented actor and I'm thrilled that he will be playing the key role of Professor Joseph Coupland, who led his most ambitious students in a notorious 1974 experiment to create a poltergeist. Jared has the perfect blend of charisma, intelligence and wit that the part of Professor Coupland demands, and I'm excited to watch him bring the role to life." Simon Oakes, President & CEO of Hammer and Vice Chairman of Exclusive Media said: "The Quiet Ones is set to be an incredibly chilling and sinister picture that we are proud to be a part of. It's another unique horror movie which we believe will appeal to audiences around the world." The Quiet Ones comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Jared Harris. The film is directed by John Pogue. |

Halle Berry on Her Engagement: 'Never Say Never!' Posted: 16 Apr 2012 11:09 AM PDT "Extra's" Terri Seymour was exclusively with the lovely Halle Berry at the 2012 Jenesse Center Silver Rose Gala this past Saturday, an event that benefits victims of domestic violence. In Berry's first red carpet appearance since her engagement to French actor Olivier Martinez was made public, the actress laughed with Seymour about it, saying, "Who knew? I swore it off, right? Never say never, people!" Berry was thrilled to be the Silver Rose Gala Chairwoman. "Being a mother is probably my greatest sense of purpose, but this gives me another sense of purpose outside my own family." The Oscar winner said honoree Shinal Walker, a survivor of domestic abuse and now an advocate, inspires her every day. Berry gushed, "She's extremely beautiful. I call her my beauty. I think many people think domestic violence doesn't affect beautiful people. But domestic violence transcends the physical selves. It's something deep inside us that needs real healing." Ingrid Roberts, honored for 10 years of volunteer service, paid tribute to Halle. "She gets in there and rolls up her sleeves and is so passionately committed to everything we do." An additional rule to be added, pending a trial. Posted: 16 Apr 2012 09:35 AM PDT Hello /r/movies denizens, Given that the vast majority of you have no fucking idea who I am, this is my first chance to formally introduce myself. I was made a moderator here a few weeks ago, with previous experience in /r/IAmA and /r/unitedkingdom. I'm more of the opinion that most content should be left to subreddit votes. But I also understand that for some unknown reason, meme posts and similar stuff inevitably get a shitload of upvotes and sometimes dominate the frontpage of the subreddit. This often leaves subscribers split between being angry at the quality of posts on the subreddit and (when a meme-like submission actually evokes good discussion) subscribers being angry when a post is removed because they were talking about something in it. I understand both sides. I had an idea yesterday; it's a new rule, and it goes something like this:
We're going to trial this for a little while, maybe a couple of weeks or so. If we don't find any problems with it, we'll go ahead and cement it in. This means that any submissions made henceforth that contravene the above rule will be removed. This does not affect thread comments, nor does it affect linking inside of a self-post. Constructive feedback/criticism is always welcome. [link] [4 comments] |
