Star Trek TV Series Won't Happen Until After Star Trek 2 Says Bryan Fuller Posted: 20 Apr 2012 10:40 AM PDT Writer-producer Bryan Fuller already has a lot on his TV plate, with two new shows in development for NBC, Mockingbird Lane and Hannibal. He is also looking to team up with director Bryan Singer on a new reboot of the original Star Trek TV series, although that likely won't happen until after J.J. Abrams' theatrical sequel Star Trek 2 hits theaters next summer. "Bryan and I are big fans of Trek and have discussed a take on what we would do, and we would love to do it. I don't think anything is going to happen in any official capacity until after the next movie comes out. And I'm sure it would be wisely under J.J. Abrams' purview of what happens. He's the guardian of Trek right now." We first reported on this proposed TV reboot back in March 2009, a few months before the first Star Trek was released in theaters. Even if this does come to fruition, it will still be a few more years before we see a new Star Trek on the small screen. |

Walt Disney Pictures Acquires Ground Control to Major Tom Posted: 20 Apr 2012 10:18 AM PDT Walt Disney Pictures has acquired the spec screenplay Ground Control to Major Tom by Jason A. Micallef (Butter). Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is attached to direct for Walt Disney Pictures, with Michael De Luca, Josh McGuire, and Trevor Engelson producing. No plot details were given, and it isn't clear how the title references the famous David Bowie song Space Oddity, since the title is one of the lyrics of that tune. The song is about a fictional astronaut named Major Tom, although it isn't known if astronauts or outer space figure into the plot of this project. It isn't known when production will begin. Seth Gordon is directing Identity Thief next, which starts shooting on Monday. |

Marvel's The Avengers Extra Scene Blown Out of Proportion Says Kevin Feige Posted: 20 Apr 2012 09:21 AM PDT Last week, at the Los Angeles press conference for Marvel's The Avengers, star Robert Downey Jr. revealed his cast mates were assembling that night to shoot a new scene. Producer Kevin Feige confirmed that additional shooting did take place, although it wasn't for an entire scene. "I will tell you this: It was not a scene. It was not a scene. There's little things. It's been blown out of proportion. Which is fun, I like that things are blown out of proportion. Sometimes they're true sometimes they're not. There is the potential that there will be one little change. People might not even notice it. It's not a big thing." We'll have to wait and see on May 4 if this last-minute filming has any impact on director Joss Whedon's superhero assemblage. Marvel's The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon. |
