The Reawakening Gets V/H/S/ Directorial Quartet

Posted: 25 Apr 2012 09:21 AM PDT

Radio Silence to direct The Reawakening

Lionsgate is in talks with the directorial foursome Radio Silence (a.k.a. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Chad Villella, and Justin Martinez) to direct The Reawakening.

The project is described as a modern-day found footage project based on Frankenstein, though no further plot details were given. Radio Silence is part of the directing ensemble behind the horror anthology V/H/S, which was picked up by Magnolia Pictures at Sundance earlier this year.

Luke Dawson (Shutter) wrote the screenplay, which is described as a hybrid of Frankenstein and Flatliners.

This is just the latest in a slew of Frankenstein-related projects currently in development. Production is currently under way on Stuart Beattie's I, Frankenstein, based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. Sony is developing its own Frankenstein with producer Matthew Tolmach, and Fox has its Untitled Frankenstein Project, written by Max Landis (Chronicle).

Movie watching etiquette?

Posted: 25 Apr 2012 08:19 AM PDT

Not sure where the best place to post this but I'm genuinely puzzled - I went to the movies last night and across the aisle, about 2 rows back from me was a guy and his (very pregnant) wife. He talked during the commercials, he talked during the previews, 10 minutes into the movie he's still talking.

I waited those 10 minutes for him to quiet down and then I turned around and shushed him. He and his wife were visibly startled (from what I could see). Then he started swearing. On and on and on. Talking, just loud enough for me to hear, about how fucking stupid I was, why the fuck was I looking at him, etc. I tried to ignore him and stared at the screen, but after 3 minutes of this I was a little surprised at how virulent he became. The escalation of his response was so strong I tensed; I was actually afraid of this man.

So I got up and left, told the ticket takers and they summoned a security guard. I got a refund and booked it out there.

My question is this: is shushing still acceptable in the theatre or has social protocol changed? What's the appropriate reaction when someone continues to talk in the movie?

The Hunt for Red October - Seriously impressed with how well this has aged. Few suspense/thriller movies are as re-watchable.
