X-Men: First Class Opens Up To A Worldwide Total Of $120 Million! Posted: 05 Jun 2011 10:36 AM PDT Thanks to CBM's own superdog for the heads up! Filmonic report that Matthew Vaughn's critically acclaimed contribution to the X-Men franchise is set to make around $120 million worldwide during it's opening weekend. The official numbers won't actually be available until early next week, but it's currently believed that X-Men: First Class brought in roughly $56 million at the US box office and $64 million elsewhere from 74 territories. "The movie really excelled in successfully launching a brand new chapter in the X-Men franchise, or new beginning if you will," Fox senior vice president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson said. The fact that the movie opened on a Wednesday internationally is bound to have helped these figures, and with a budget of $160 million, it's looking likely that the movie will make a tidy profit which will surely ensure a sequel. Fire Destroys Country Star Trace Adkins' Home Posted: 05 Jun 2011 09:55 AM PDT Trace Adkins' 5,000-square-foot mansion in Brentwood, Tennessee was engulfed in flames on a scorching afternoon on Saturday. His children were inside, but managed to escape safely. The couple's three daughters were watching a movie with a babysitter when they heard a huge crash. Unsure where the noise came from, the babysitter checked out the garage where she realized the home was on fire. She quickly called 9-1-1 and got everyone, including the family's pets, out of the home. Trace's wife, Rhonda, was out running errands and when she returned home, saw smoke and fire billowing from their home. Minutes after the blaze, firefighters arrived on scene and battled the flames at around 3:30 P.M. The family lost most of their possessions in the fire, but Rhonda told a NBC news affiliate, WSMV-TV, "It's just stuff." She said she was grateful no one was injured. Adkins was on his way to Alaska for a concert and was not near the mansion at the time of the incident. Photos of the damage can be viewed on The Tennessean.com. |

Bridesmaids Love it or Hate it? Posted: 05 Jun 2011 06:48 AM PDT I was dragged to the theater to see Bridesmaids on opening weekend with my girlfriend and 5 of her friends. We all sat there and stared at the screen blankly for 90 minutes as failed joke after failed joke scrolled across the screen. My girlfriend who has no taste in movies at all, leaned over and apologized to all of us half way through the movie for making us see it. Not a single person we saw it with enjoyed the movie, and we shocked that people were laughing at some parts that were not even funny. I know this sounds like a total troll post, I did laugh a few times. I thought overall the movie was a train wreck and another Saturday Night Live Flop. However, this movie is getting AMAZING reviews on rotten tomatoes, IMDB, and Fandango. I don't understand it all. They're saying it's Apatow's best movie ever. I call bullshit. Have you seen Bridesmaids? Did you love it or hate it? [link] [2 comments] |
