Warner Bros. Is Moving Forward With Green Lantern Sequel?

Posted: 26 Jun 2011 10:47 AM PDT

Well, this is definitely a big surprise. Even though Martin Campbell-directed comic book adaptation Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds didn't get big numbers at the box office, Warner Bros. is still planning to move forward with the sequel. As The Hollywood Reporter points out, studio is indeed disappointed with the results, but they don't want to walk away from the planned franchise. Warner Bros. is already planning a sequel to Ryan Reynolds' superhero pic Green Lantern, despite the film's soft performance at the box office. Sources say Warners still believes in the franchise, even if the studio is "somewhat disappointed" with Green Lantern's result. Over the weekend, Green Lantern fell a steep 66% at the domestic box office, grossing $18.4 million for a cume of $89.3 million. That's a big decline. I think that sequel will happen eventually, but it won't be anytime soon. So, what do you think? If they make a

Reports from Man of Steel casting call/ Plano, Illinois/ Possible first set pics! Loyal CBM member Jake Rapp traveled to Chicago, Illinois yesterday (6/25/2011) for the Man of Steel extras casting call. I spoke with him on the phone last night and here is what he had to report: The casting call was quick and methodical. People were lined around the block to get in. He was one of the first to go. They were taking five people at a time, asking two or three simple questions, taking the application, and then snapping a picture of each applicant. Jake said that while it was exciting, it was over before he knew it. This is where the story gets good. Jake decided, since he had the rest of the day to play around, he would drive to Plano. The small town will be the double for Smallville in

'Cars 2' Zooms to Top of the Box Office

The Pixar sequel "Cars 2" raced to first place in theaters this weekend, crossing the box-office finish line with $68 million.

The animated film did not wow the critics as past Pixar films have done, which led some to believe it would be the animation juggernaut's first dud after such huge hits as "Toy Story 3," "Up" and "Wall-E." But with a merchandising bonanza targeting families with children under 12, especially young boys, "Cars 2" -- which follows Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) overseas where the talking cars become involved in an international espionage tale -- proved the franchise is still strong. Exiting polls showed most moviegoers disagreed with critics and liked the movie, giving it an average grade of A-minus, according to market research firm CinemaScore. The Cameron Diaz comedy "Bad Teacher," opened with a strong $31 million, continuing to prove the success of female-skewing R-rated comedies after the hit "Bridesmaids."

Looking for a certain short film (might be a tough one)

Posted: 26 Jun 2011 08:29 AM PDT

Hi reddit,

I am looking for a particular short film I once saw (approx. 5 years ago) on youtube. In particular, it was about a man coming to a town and realizing that there were no real people in the town, only human-sized dolls.

Does anyone happen to know what the name of the film might be?

Directed by Brad Bird, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Josh Holloway and Paula Patton, and is set to be released on December 16th, later this year.

COMICS: Full Justice League Lineup For DC Relaunch Revealed

In addition to Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Flash and Cyborg we have Firestorm, Deadman, Atom, Element Woman, Green Arrow, Hawkman, Mara and what we assume is Powergirl, but Bleeding Cool think it could possibly be Wildstorm's Zealot. What do you think of this new lineup? Personally I'm delighted to see Deadman, Firestorm and Atom in there, but would have preferred Hawkgirl over Hawkman! Still, interesting team anyway.
