Mark Millar Shares His Thoughts On The Relaunched DC Universe And More! Posted: 20 Jun 2011 10:37 AM PDT Thanks to a lengthy transcript from comicbookGRRRL, we have the following comments from comic book writer and creator Mark Millar about the upcoming relaunch of the DC comic book universe. Below are a handful of excerpts from the report, but I strongly advise clicking the link below to head on over the the site to read Millar's thoughts on the portrayal of female characters in comics, the current trend of regular "event" books, and why he's left Marvel to focus more on his own creator owned work. It's a tricky one because if you're a fan of something, sometimes it's really alluring, the idea of going and doing it. But then, I love the Clangers, I love the Wombles, I like the Mr Men, but I don't want to write them! I like them existing, I love it as part of my life, my childhood especially, but the idea of doing back |
Nicole Atkins Mimics 'Dazed and Confused' for 'My Baby Don't Lie' -- Video Premiere Posted: 20 Jun 2011 02:00 PM PDT Filed under: News, Video, Exclusive Razor and Tie "The song is such a s---kicker so we figured we would use the video budget to throw a big old party a la the 'party at the moontower' from the movie 'Dazed and Confused,'" Atkins tells Spinner. "I wanted to give a sense of place where both fun and trouble are bred. The song is about a gossipy type making up rumors about your relationship. After a dozen drinks at a party in the summer, who knows what kind of stories will be conjured up the next morning? Also, it was fun to make." |

Dr. Who's Matt Smith Performs as Batman in Los Angeles Play Posted: 20 Jun 2011 07:40 AM PDT Dr. Who's Matt Smith was stateside in Los Angeles to participate in an event called "24 Hour Plays". Its a pretty interesting charity concept, where actors get on stage and perform plays written the night before. Smith performed in a play titled, Gotham Autopsy, where he is the Caped Crusader. According to the UK newspaper, The Telegraph: At the start of his play – called Gotham Autopsy – Smith was covered in a sheet in a mortuary before he came to life as a confused Batman. Comedian and Don't Mess With Zohan star Nick Swardson starred as Robin. Also in his play were Kick Ass star Lyndsy Fonseca and fellow Brit Saffron Burrows. Half-way through the 20 minute skit Smith dropped his fake American accent and became a cockney (Brit) to huge laughs from the audience. Also, performing in seperate plays were Eva Mendes (Ghost Rider, The Spirit) |
