Tina Fey on Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Rant: 'It Doesn't Line Up'

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 11:36 AM PDT

Actor/comedian Tracy Morgan's anti-gay rant during a stand-up routine in Nashville Thursday "was disturbing" to his "30 Rock" co-star Tina Fey, but she comes to her friend's defense.

In a statement to TMZ, Tina said she's glad Morgan sent out a formal apology, but explained, "The violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community." Fey continued, "It also doesn't line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person. "I hope for his sake that Tracy's apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian co-workers at '30 Rock', without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket." NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt also weighed in, saying the network has warned Morgan about the incident. "Tracy's comments reflect negatively on both '30 Rock' and NBC -- two very all-inclusive and diverse organizations -- and we have made it clear to him that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated."

Can someone be kind enough to explain to me why the third X-Men movie isn't good? Preferably someone who knows the comics really well.

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 07:55 AM PDT

I notice a lot that people on Reddit don't like this movie very much, so I thought of asking some of you kind people to fill me in on why it's such a bad movie. :3 I saw First Class a week ago and thought it was an amazing movie! In fact, I plan on seeing it again sometime in the near future. :)

What do think is the most powerful depiction of death or dying in a film? [Probable Spoilers Eventually]

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 08:05 AM PDT

Characters die in movies constantly, and it most cases we really don't give a shit. For me, though, there are some that really evoke an emotional response (as they all should) and stick with me. What films contain the most powerful depictions of death or dying in your opinion? I'll add mine to the comments.

If possible, keep the SPOILERS to an absolute minimum, or provide adequate warning at least.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 seemed more like a Pirates of the Caribbean TV Show launch.

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 10:01 AM PDT

Very few original characters or connections to original plotlines, a brand new slew of characters from a mixture of Jack's supposed past (which it just doesn't work to impose after three films) and pirate lore, brief transitions of attempted character development from pirate action scene to pirate action scene--it's bad. It feels much less like 'Pirates of the Caribbean' than it does 'Some Pirates with Some Johnny Depp' (and I really love Johnny Depp, so it was quite insulting). Opinions?

Why does Hollywood limit themselves to remakes, reboots, prequels, sequels, and comic book franchises. Why is no one making movies using new material? I'm getting sick of safe movies with built in audiences.

I understand it's a matter of money but damn it's getting awfully boring at the ole movie theater.

I'm sorry but I had to say this out loud.

Qualification: I'm talking about mainstream movies produced by the big Hollywood movie studios. No independent or semi independent movies.

Trying to find the clip of the guy watching 2001 on acid/lsd, does anyone know what happened to it?

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 09:02 AM PDT

The original clip from YouTube got deleted, probably by Warner/MGM who don't want the bad press/association from their title. But I need to find it, as I feel like I'm going to have a similar experience when I see Tree of Life next week :P

Lily Allen is All Smiles on Her Wedding Day

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 10:11 AM PDT

Singer Lily Allen married business owner Sam Cooper at St. James the Great Church in Gloucestershire, England, on Saturday.

The "Smile" songstress wore a long lace sleeves and a fishtail skirt by French designer Delphine Manivet, People.com reports, and carried a bouquet of white roses. Her father, musician Keith Allen, gave her away. The wedding date wasn't a surprise since it had been leaked to the press by an unknown guest, who sent the save-the-date card to British newspapers in March. The two had been dating since 2009 and became engaged last Christmas.

Sung Kang Joins Untitled Sylvester Stallone/Walter Hill Project

Sung Kang joins Sylvester Stallone for Untitled Walter Hill project

Late last month, news surfaced that Thomas Jane was in the process of being fired from Headshot because Joel Silver wanted to pair star Sylvester Stallone with an African-American actor to replicate the mixed-race buddy scenario he found success with in such past films as Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout.

There has been no official word on Thomas Jane being let go from his contract, but yesterday Fast Five and Ninja Assassin star Sung Kang joined the project, and many speculate that he will be taking on the role previously held by Jane. The title of this Walter Hill directed action flick was also dropped and remains untitled for the time being.

Based on the graphic novel Bullet to the Head, Sylvester Stallone stars as a New Orleans based hitman who teams up with a New York City street cop to take down a common enemy. Thomas Jane had officially signed on to play the NYC police officer, though last we heard, he was negotiating over his contract, hoping to keep his job. The news of Sung Kang coming aboard the project has omitted any mention of Thomas Jane, and only reveals that Sung Kang will be playing a major supporting role.

Joel Silver is producing the Untitled Sylvester Stallone/Walter Hill Project for Dark Castle and Warner Bros. Pictures. Shooting is set to begin in Louisiana later this month.

Untitled Sylvester Stallone/Walter Hill Project comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang.
