Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson To Take Over As Lead In G.I. Joe Franchise?

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 10:39 AM PDT

With many of the stars from the critically panned first installment of the franchise not returning, it looks like studio bosses over at Paramount have decided to find a leading man who will put bums on seats. Here is an excerpt from the report over at Variety. Fresh off "Fast Five," Duane Johnson is back in action realm, signing on for a role in the sequel to "G.I. Joe." Jon Chu, who brought "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" to the world, is directing the 3D update, titled "G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes." Deadline meanwhile added the following details: Johnson's role is a character named Roadblock. I'm also hearing that Channing Tatum is a good bet to return. What do you guys think? Will this casting decison convince you to give the movie a chance? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

New Trailer For Fright Night

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 10:39 AM PDT

I wasn't too impressed with the first trailer for this, but that looks a bit better. When a red band trailer hits I'm sure we will really get a sense of what we are in for! Good cast anyway, it's potentially looking like great fun. Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all--he's running with the popular crowd and dating the hottest girl in high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But trouble arrives when an intriguing stranger Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right--and everyone, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette), doesn't notice. After witnessing some very unusual activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on his neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone that he's telling the truth, Charlie has to find a way

Lafayette, La., five-piece indie-rock outfit Givers aren't your average set of punk kids with a few guitar tricks up their sleeves. The members are all seasoned multi-instrumentalists taking influences from their native state and its plethora of Cajun and zydeco musical history. The band (singer/guitarist Taylor Guarisco, singer/percussionist Tiffany Lamson, bassist Josh LeBlanc, drummer Kirby Campbell and Nick Stephan on keys and flute) stopped by Spinner recently to share a couple of tunes from their debut full-length, 'In Light,' a perfect mix of shimmering pop and summer-strong songs.

How did you guys all come together?

Taylor Guarisco: We met in high school and then kind of congealed musically right after, the first year or two of college. We played in a bunch of other bands between the five of us and eventually we just decided to make one band where we're all in the band.

Cameron Diaz on Movie Sex with Her Ex, Justin Timberlake

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 10:54 AM PDT

Actress Cameron Diaz talked to "Extra" about doing the hilarious, fully clothed love scene with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake for their upcoming comedy, "Bad Teacher."

"It was the least sexy scene you've ever seen. We took that on as a very serious responsibility to create the best PSA for safe sex," winked Diaz. "To show children that if you keep your jeans on, you can't get pregnant, you can't. Just keep the jeans on. It's a jean jam." As for the rumors she and current beau, baseball player Alex Rodriguez, are kaput, Diaz just laughs it off. "If I want to read gossip, I read about somebody else's life. I can't worry about what other people say. It's fine to say whatever you want as long as you actually don't know what's going on in my life." Photos: Cameron Diaz Through the Years! The actress also gave a little hint as to how she keeps her body in shape. "I've become more disciplined on my diet, which I never had to do because I was skinny," she confessed. "I decided as you get older, it does change. I used to be able to eat fried chicken at 2:00 in the morning with a boat of gravy and French fries and mashed potatoes and not even feel it in the morning. Now, if I do that in the middle of the day, it's like, ugh." Diaz continued, "I've taken fried foods out of my diet on a daily basis. Every once in a while, I indulge in it, but I don't order the French fries every time. And I've had a longstanding love affair with French fries. I will always hold them dear to my heart." "Bad Teachers" holds class in theaters starting June 24.

Ok, so I started watching Gentlemen Broncos and I absolutely cannot stand it. Anyone else have the same experience?

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 07:30 AM PDT

I really don't know where to start. This movie looked so hilarious in the previews. But I think they just decided to take the themes from Napoleon Dynamite and take them to an extreme. I just cannot stand anything about this movie from the terrible sound effects, the over-the-top gross-ness, and especially the incredibly stupid facial expressions of that home schooled girl's boyfriend. And as a fan of sci-fi novels, I worry that this is going a little too far in making fun of the genre.

Am I alone here? Am I missing something?
