Guardians of the Galaxy Is Twisted Says Joss Whedon

James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy will be 'twisted' says Joss Whedon

Last month, it was revealed that James Gunn was Marvel Studios' top choice to direct Guardians of the Galaxy, another big-budget ensemble that brings together characters such as Rocket Raccoon and Drax the Destroyer. The filmmaker has since been confirmed to write and direct the upcoming project. Marvel's The Avengers director Joss Whedon knows a thing or two about superhero ensembles, and he is also serving as a creative adviser on this project. He recently spoke about James Gunn's take on the material.

"He has a very twisted take on it, but it all comes from a real love for the material. It's going to be hard for the humans to keep up. I know he's going to come from left field and I'm going to go, 'What?' And then, 'Of course, why didn't I think of that?' And then I'm going to beat him!"

Joss Whedon admitted he initially had some doubts about this project, but that initial trepidation was put to rest once James Gunn signed on.

"James is what makes me think it will work. I myself was sort of like, 'Well, I liked Rocket Raccoon as a kid, but I'm not sure how that plays [to a wider audience].' And then they said, 'Well, we're thinking about using James Gunn.' And I said, 'Oh, then no, you're fine.' He is so off the wall, and so crazy, but so smart, such a craftsman and he builds from his heart. He loves the raccoon. Needs the raccoon. This is the guy who wrote The Specials. People don't understand how influential that movie was about heroes, about taking heroes and making them mundane. And [he directed] Super."

Joss Whedon also said that James Gunn has 'barely started' writing the screenplay, but he has plenty of time until the August 1, 2014 release date.

Guardians of the Galaxy comes to theaters August 1st, 2014.

What is r/movies opinion of Battle Royale?

I watched it the other night, and loved it. It perfectly combines thrilling action, bloody violence, black humor, and teen drama. The level of detail in the movie is also really great.

What is r/movies opinion on it?

The Seventh Seal (1957): Legendary Swedish Auteur Ingmar Bergman’s Existential Masterpiece that depicts the Epic Battle of Life and Death

Just watched "Stay Tuned" with John Ritter. Thought it was a great movie. What are your thoughts?

What is the one movie you cannot help but adamantly criticize every time you see it mentioned?

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 07:34 AM PDT

For me it is Prometheus. I won't get into all of my criticism's here since we all know them all for top to bottom.

I remember watching Aliens for the first time with my Grandma. She knew I loved scifi and one day when I was young but old enough to watch it, she made us an amazing breakfast and we watched Aliens for the first time. Shortly there after I saw Alien with my dad after I told him how much I enjoyed the sequel.

Even though they were old I was surprised at how suspenseful and even scary they were at times. I was born in 1987 and the only horror movie pre 1990's that had actually scared me was the 1982 version of The Thing.

After seeing the original two I was eager to see the rest. Alien 3 wasn't the worst, but the plot was off and the CGI Alien was a real let down. Didn't hold the same menace as the old ones, especially how they continuously showed it from it's own perspective as it moved through the prison. The rest of the alien franchise was disapointing to say the lest.

With a return of big budget and Ridley Scott to the franchise I expected excellent special effects, a suspenseful and riveting story line, and characters I would hate/love and be sad/elated to see eaten by the Aliens. Instead I got a very pretty movie with a slapped together plot and characters I really did not care what happened to them one way or the other.

So how about it r/movies? What is that one movie that for whatever reason you cannot help but tear down when ever it is mentioned? Bonus points for why this movie is different than other bad movies.

Singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards is lucky to be alive today after a yellow jacket sting yesterday in Windsor, Ontario sent her into anaphylactic shock following a concert.

"Anaphylactic shock is not fun," Edwards tweeted last night. "But not as bad if it happens right AFTER you play the show. #ouchy"

This morning a Facebook post revealed that the incident was far from a laughing matter.

"Just want to thank the St. Johns ambulance and the Winsor EMT's," Edwards wrote this morning. "I went into anaphylactic shock yesterday after getting stuck several times by a yellow jacket. An epi-pen saved my life, says the ER doctor. Bees and wasps are no longer welcome at my shows. Thanks, paramedics."

Josh Wilding Reviews: Unboxing The HARRY POTTER WIZARD’S COLLECTION

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 10:00 AM PDT

Last week, Warner Bros. were kind enough to send us a copy of the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection. In the seven days I was lucky enough to be able to hold on to the box set, I had plenty of time to properly examine every single nook and cranny of it. Despite the fairly lofty price (around £180 in the UK and $350 in the US depending on where you look), I have no doubt that it is a truly essential purchase for any fan of the franchise and the content included within definitely justifies the price tag. We'll get to the films and special features a little later this week, but for now, I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the set itself and all the fantastic collectibles contained within. As you can see from the photos below, the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection unfolds in just a few
