Question for non-American viewers. How many of the movies you watch are American and how many are not?

Posted: 20 Sep 2012 10:20 AM PDT

I'm just curious how prevalent American cinema (anything from big popcorn flicks to indies) is in other parts of the world. Also how many films from your own country do you generally see? Does the theater versus DVD change the numbers?

After all, they won the prize -- which goes to the best Canadian album of the year, based on "artistic merit without regard to genre, sales history or label affiliation" -- in 2009 with their sprawling The Chemistry of Common Life record.

To hear Fucked Up lead singer Damian Abraham tell it, though, the band doesn't figure on becoming the first ever act to win the Polaris twice.
