THE AVENGERS: VFX Breakdown Featuring The Creation of The Hulk & More! Posted: 06 Sep 2012 12:03 PM PDT io9 has a pretty great video of the VFX breakdown for the Joss Whedon-directed film The Avengers, coming to Blu-ray and DVD on September 25th. The video gives us a behind-the-scenes look at how all those artist at Industrial Light & Magic created some of most stunning CG shots for the film. There is no embed, so click the image below to check out the video: Along with the video, the site also had a chance to talk to Visual Effects Supervisor Jeff White, Animation Director Marc Chu and Associate Visual Effects Supervisor Jason Smith, who shared some new info on the characters and CG shots. Michael Keaton Set to Direct Buttercup Posted: 06 Sep 2012 11:40 AM PDT Actor Michael Keaton has signed on to direct his second feature with the dramatic comedy Buttercup. He made his directorial debut with the 2009 indie The Merry Gentleman. The story centers on a woman who is forced to take care of her elderly father, after he is arrested yet again for drunken driving. She comes to terms with his issues, and slowly begins to trust the other men in her life. The title refers to her childhood nickname. The multi-hyphenate replaces Niki Caro at the helm. Jennifer Aniston and Alan Arkin were previously attached to star, although they are no longer involved, with casting currently under way. Alice O'Neil wrote the screenplay, with Michael London producing through his Groundswell Pictures company, alongside Brian Koppelman and David Levien. No production schedule was given. We reported last week that the actor joined the cast of MGM's RoboCop remake. Buttercup is in development . The film is directed by Michael Keaton. |

The posters feature stars Colin Firth and Alan Rickman. The brief, six seconds of footage features Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz. The studio still hasn't announced a domestic release date yet, but in the meantime, take a look at what to expect. MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS Briefcase Set To Be Released Spring 2013 Posted: 06 Sep 2012 10:49 AM PDT Entertainment Weekly reports that the "Phase One" briefcase set featuring Marvel's The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk and Thor on Blu-ray will now be released on "an unspecified date next spring, according to sources at parent company Disney." Originally set to be released on September 25th, a German luggage firm have filed a lawsuit because of the similarities between the replica briefcase being used for this set and one of their products. The set, which includes a glowing replica of the Tesseract, is now being redesigned. What will happen to the discarded plastic briefcases and what this new version will look like is unknown.
