Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' outdoor 3D premiere will benefit the Boys and Girls Club on May 7th

The Walt Disney Company is donating proceeds from the highly anticipated World Premiere of Walt Disney Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Films' Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, it was announced today by Rich Ross, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. The first-ever 3D outdoor event will take place on May 7th at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, with all of the film's stars expected to attend along with many Hollywood celebrities.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise-this time in Disney Digital 3D. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the action-packed adventure.

Individual tickets for the premiere event are priced at $1,000 and are now available for sale at PiratesPremiere.com. Disney is donating 100% of the proceeds from the ticket sales directly to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

"The 3D World Premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at Disneyland Park is going to be our biggest and best yet," said Rich Ross, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. "Disney has been a longtime supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and we're thrilled to share such an extraordinary event with this important organization that gives so many kids a chance to embark on their own adventures."

Disneyland Resort president George Kalogridis comments, "We're proud to once again serve as the host venue for another Pirates of the Caribbean premiere and assist Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Millions of our guests have followed Captain Jack Sparrow's adventures on screen and here at the Disneyland Resort, and we're excited to join with The Walt Disney Studios to launch him on another journey."

The special premiere benefit event continues the longstanding relationship between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and The Walt Disney Company, which started more than 50 years ago when Walt Disney was made an honorary member of the organization's board of governors.

For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA.org) has changed and saved lives, enabling young people to achieve great futures. Today, some 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs serve some 4 million children and teens through Club membership and community outreach.

In addition to the funds raised by the premiere ticket sales, Pirate's Booty, leader and manufacturer of all-natural snacks, has collaborated with Walt Disney Pictures to create a limited edition Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides- themed package for its best-selling product, Pirate's Booty Aged White Cheddar, and will be donating 5 cents to Boys & Girls Clubs of America for each bag sold between April 1 and July 31, 2011, with the goal being a $100,000 contribution.

Leaders in technology are also collaborating with Disney to make the spectacular outdoor 3D movie event possible: XPand 3D will be leveraging their new Infinity Large Screen System for the 3D experience, and each guest will receive a pair of Pirates of the Caribbean-branded XPand Universal 3D glasses; Christie will be providing their Christie CP2230 digital cinema projectors to present the movie in stunning 3D clarity; and as exclusive telecommunications sponsor for the premiere, Verizon will be integrating their technology throughout the event.

Walt Disney Pictures' and Jerry Bruckheimer Films' Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens in theaters May 20, 2011, in Disney Digital 3D.

Azam Ali Crafts Grown-Up Middle-Eastern Lullabies on 'From the Night'

Lullabies, as it turns out, are not for babies.

The song 'Noor (The Light in My Eyes),' which opens Azam Ali's new album 'From Night to the Edge of Day' (due out April 12 by Six Degrees Records) certainly doesn't sound like kids' stuff. Leading off a collection drawn largely from various cultures in Ali's native Iran and neighboring countries, the song's dark, modal tones and haunting/haunted atmosphere not exactly, well, lulling.

Trash Adaptation Gets Director Stephen Daldry

Posted: 05 Apr 2011 10:45 AM PDT

Stephen Daldry will direct an adaptation of the Andy Mulligan novel Trash

Random House Children's Books and Jane Turnbull are thrilled to announce that Working Title Films and PeaPie Films have acquired the film rights to Trash, the acclaimed novel by British author, Andy Mulligan in a deal brokered by Jenne Casarotto of Casarotto Ramsay Associates.

Richard Curtis, Britain's most successful screenwriter will adapt the novel. Alongside his many award-winning original screenplays for television (Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley) and film (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill), Curtis has also adapted previous literary work, including The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and recently War Horse for director Steven Spielberg.

Stephen Daldry, three-time Academy Award nominated (Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader) and Tony Award winning director, is attached to direct the film.

Trash is a contemporary thriller set in the third world, and follows three boys who eke out a living picking through rubbish mounds, until a surprise discovery sets them on a breathtaking adventure pitting their wits against corruption and authority. The book is published in the UK and US by David Fickling Books, an imprint of Random House. Fickling previously saw international success with the crossover titles Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and TThe Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Trash has already been translated into 16 other languages.

Kris Thykier says, "From the opening pages of Trash, I knew that I had discovered one of the most thrilling, dynamic and inspiring books I'd ever come across. I am truly excited at the prospect of bringing Andy Mulligan's joyful story to the screen and am honoured to be working with Working Title, whom I consider to be the best production company in the world and Richard, one of my favourite screenwriters and Stephen, who is justly considered one of the greatest directors of his generation."

Andy Mulligan says: "As far as I'm concerned this is the dream-team, and what has really impressed me is their desire to tell the story as it is, without coating it in sugar. They 'get' the book, and you can't ask for more than that."

If the "Shoe" fits... "Glee" star Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) and TV love interest Gwyneth Paltrow were spotted at London's Grosvenor House Hotel at 2 AM. While making their exit from the hotel, Paltrow shied away from paparazzi and covered her face with a silk scarf.

Paltrow and Morrison shared a meal at Locanda Locatelli restaurant before heading to the hotel for drinks, according to Daily Mail.

Matthew Says "Summer Rain" Was About an Ex

The pair became pals when the actress guest-starred on "Glee" as sexy substitute teacher Holly Holiday. Although it hasn't been confirmed, there's a possibility that Gwyneth might join Matthew on his solo singing tour this summer.

Morrison's self-titled album drops in May, and the singer/actor will tour the U.S. beginning in June -- kicking off in Minneapolis and ending in Los Angeles.

A statement on the band's official website reads, "The day before the charity event, during an eight-hour session, Beady Eye went into RAK studios to record and mix their version of the song from The Beatles' 'Let It Be' album."
