Diana and Kate: The Royal Resemblance

Posted: 24 Apr 2011 10:32 AM PDT

As the royal wedding approaches, the comparisons between Princess Diana and Kate Middleton are inevitable. Here are a few similar looks between the two royal beauties!

Diana & Kate: The Royal Resemblance

Sport of Queens

Even a princess or princess-to-be has to let her hair down every once in awhile. Princess Diana was seen here going to her health club in London in 1995, while Kate attended the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in 2006.

Windsor Winds

It can be a royal headache to get caught in the wind. Here Princess Diana fought the wind leaving her health club in 1996, while Kate looked on during a visit to a RNLI Lifeboat Station in Wales this year.

Fan-tastic

Ah, the adoring public! Princess Diana met her fans during a visit to the Doctor Angel Roffo hospital in Buenos Aires in 1995, while Kate greeted a crowd after a visit to Witton Country Park.

Kids Love Them

It's always good to recognize your littlest fans. Here Princess Diana greeted a little girl at a royal gala in 1996, while Kate showed off her pancake-flipping skills during a visit to City Hall Belfast, Northern Ireland earlier this year.

Coat of Arms

It's important to look sharp when the weather turns nasty. Princess Diana kept warm at a rugby game in 1995, while Kate showed her support when Prince William graduated from the RAF Cranwell Air Base in March.

A Royal Suit

You have to know how to wear a stylish suit. Diana was seen here in 1992 on a visit to Paris, while Kate was visiting the University of St. Andrews this year.

Crowning Glory

The royals do love their hats! Diana sported a wide-brimmed hat in 1988, while Kate wore a black topper in 2006.

Jungle Look

Nothing says relaxed than a great pair of khakis. Diana looked great in a pair in 1997, as did Kate in 2007.

Holy Moley! It's time for Shazam! on History of Comics On Film!

Posted: 24 Apr 2011 12:00 AM PDT

In the 45th part of this ongoing series that focuses on the History of Comic Books, producer Derek Crabbe views comics history through the lens of those comic book characters that are lucky enough to be adapted for both movies and television. If you enjoy the musings of James Rolfe or Lewis Lovhaug you'll probably enjoy this vast project which continues with the Filmation produced live-action television series, Shazam! that aired on CBS from 1974 to 1977 !

The most star-studded short film of all time.

Troll Hunters!

Hey r/movies, need help finding a movie

Posted: 24 Apr 2011 09:27 AM PDT

I saw it on TV like a decade ago, science fiction I believe.

Something along the lines of a group of people escaping a space station or something of the sort because it was exploding perhaps? Could have been a planet, I don't remember. 5 or 7 of them, they end up in a space shuttle, floating around for a while. One of them is pregnant and I think the baby dies, so she tries to open the doors. Another is pretending to be blind, but it turns out he isn't, they figure out when they're watching a video they took of them having to amputate a guy's leg, and when he hurls something at the 'blind' guy he moves out of the way. Also the 'blind' guy is poisoning the water supply? I also distinctly remember it getting really hot at one point, and then later, really cold. The woman flying the shuttle is black, and at some point, they all drink their own piss. No, it's not Bear Grylls's space adventure. But I don't know what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

(Spoiler: I think it ends with the not-blind conman being literally kicked out of the shuttle)

Does anyone else think The Social Network is the biggest Oscar snub since Citizen Kane?

Posted: 24 Apr 2011 09:35 AM PDT

Okay, The King's Speech was pretty good, but it was just Oscar bait and nothing else. The Social Network perfectly defines our generation and will go down in history as a very important film. Everyone will forget about The King's Speech in about a year. Just like The Hurt Locker.

Another big snub was Pulp Fiction. It was up against The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump, which are both incredible, but they have been done multiple times, Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece and won't ever be done ever again.

If Weinstein lets it go and The Crow manages to get remade...

Posted: 24 Apr 2011 04:00 AM PDT

I would like to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt cast as Eric Draven.

I posted this suggestion in a reply to another submission before it was announced that Weinstein made a stink about it. I feel that since the idea for a remake has been birthed, Gordon-Levitt would be the best person for the job.

Reddit's Greatest Living Film Actor Tournament: qualifying round part 1

Posted: 24 Apr 2011 07:10 AM PDT

Its time to quit fucking around and let Reddit decide who is the greatest living film actor. I'm not talking about Broadway or Shakespeare here...I'm talking Hollywood baby! The winner should be chosen on pure acting talent.

I figure the best venue for reddit would be a tournament style competition...16 of the best (male) actors I could think of thrown together in a bout for the title of greatest living actor. Yes, it's biased that I came up with the list, but I think I've been pretty fair in making my choices. AND I'm leaving 3 open spaces for Reddit to submit write-in submissions! When you place your vote for today's round, feel free to add a write-in candidate. The three most popular write-ins from this post will be added to part 2 of the qualifying round.

With that in mind, here is a full list of the actors I have chosen, in order to avoid any repeats for the write-ins. Today's post will pit half of these players against each other and the next post will finish up the qualifying round.

Christian Bale

Jeff Bridges

Michael Caine

Sean Connery

Brian Cox

Daniel Day-Lewis

Danny DeVito
