"I was hoping he'd be back with an action series or another film — that's what the market wants," one veteran European buyer says. "But a cartoon? That's a hard sell, especially since it's not even in 3D." The Governator trailer Schwarzenegger screened in Cannes did little to reassure buyers. "It was action, action, action and nothing we haven't seen before," says Claude Schmit, head of Super RTL, Europe's top children's channel. "It looked like a lot of stuff out there at the moment. The Antlers did just that at this year's SXSW when they performed their new album 'Burst Apart' at an NPR showcase. "The idea was NPR's," organist Darby Cicci tells Spinner. "We just finished the record and they were like, 'We want you to play the whole record all the way through.' We thought it was a cool idea -- a debut record played for the first time. In theory, it was really awesome. Then we were stuck with sort of figuring out how to do it."

Sneak Peek! New Way to Audition for 'X Factor' Posted: 07 Apr 2011 10:23 AM PDT "Extra's" Terri Seymour unveils at a revolutionary new audition process for the US version of the "X-Factor"! MyStudio recording booths will be set-up in smaller cities across America and will allow thousands of people in more non-traditional regions, who may not be able to attend the "cattle call" auditions, a unique opportunity to audition for the show. Seymour spoke with Anna Madrid, VP Business Development for MyStudio, who said "X-Factor" creator Simon Cowell "is literally breaking the mold on the way to audition for television." Madrid continued, "The idea with having the studios and the whole thought process behind our company is to be able to reach parts of the country that are not traditionally tapped into by typically TV production and opening auditions to a greater pool of people. There's a lot of untapped talent in those areas and this was especially an attractive area for 'X-Factor' to reach into." Hopefuls will record their audition in a professional recording studio. Each person will have approximately two minutes to create an a cappella music recording, including 30 seconds at the beginning to state why they think they have the "X Factor." Users will be notified via email to let them know whether they've been eliminated or made it to the next round of auditions. Studios will go up in select cities beginning April 8 and will close on April 30.
