Please help me find a movie simmilar to Trainspotting

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:28 AM PDT

I've never thought I'd be so obsessed with a movie but I've watched it probably close to 30 times by now and it's gotten to the point where I rarely watch other movies because none of them have the same feel that Trainspotting has.

I am really desperate at this point and have noone else to ask so I ask you, fellow Redditors, to help me with my predicament if possible and suggest a movie that a Trainspotting junkie like me would enjoy.

Your help is much apriciated and I look forward to your answers.

Zak Penn Talks About Writing The Avengers, His Future With Marvel Studios And More!

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:14 AM PDT

Despite writing the mostly popular X-2, Zack Penn is not a popular screenwriter among comic book fans. Responsible for awful movies like Elektra and Fantastic Four (both of which saw major changes to the source material) there was a universal scream of horror when it was revealed that he would be penning the script to The Avengers. That's probably why so many of us were thankful to discover Joss Whedon was rewriting the damned thing. Speaking to Collider, Penn is clearly still excited for the movie, but it certainly sounds as if Marvel Studios have no plans to work with him again any time soon. Here are a few excerpts from the interview, but you can read it in its entirety by clicking the link below. On How The Script Has Changed Since He Was Involved: Do you believe in Joss Whedon? I believe in him. That's my comment. If you believe

Reddit, you frequently (and correctly) complain about terrible and unnnecessary remakes. But what are some movies that might really improve if remade by the right people? Suggest a film and director!

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:10 AM PDT

  • THE BEYOND (1981, Lucio Fulci) - Guillermo Del Toro.

I'd like to start the bidding with Lucio Fulci's THE BEYOND, which has a sort of great bizarro plot and some great sequences but, like most of Fulci's films, suffers from unfocused storytelling and generally weak acting and character work. I'd like to nominate Guillermo Del Toro to helm the remake, as I think he'd nail the atmosphere and slow-burn pace of the film, while building off of the surreal imagery of the original.

  • DJANGO (1987, Sergio Corbucci) - John Hillcoat

1987's DJANGO has lots of great things about it, particularly its striking central image of its lone anti-hero dragging a coffin behind as he walks the land, as well as some loathesome villains and a usually twisty plot for a Western. Sadly, Corbucci's direction is as bland as it comes and the movie suffers badly from pacing problems and weirdly constructed arcs. But I think John Hillcoat (THE PROPOSITION, THE ROAD) would nail the brutal, nihilistic tone of the film and bring out the dreamlike beauty of the iconic moments.

Whatcha got for me, reddit?

edit: how'd that extra N get into the title? Sorry folks.
