Warning up front: The video below is horrifying. It's not because it is graphic (it isn't), but because it led to a person's death. In it, 39-year-old firefighter Shannon Stone falls from the stands of the Ballpark at Arlington during Thursday's Texas Rangers-Oakland A's baseball game while attempting to catch a foul ball tossed up by outfielder Josh Hamilton. In the clip, you can hear announcers crack jokes at Stone's expense, unaware of the severity of his fall. Stone reportedly died on the way to the hospital. His son accompanied him to the game...

Journey's Jonathan Cain Credits Success to Dad's Support After Tragic School Fire

For Journey keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, 'Don't Stop Believin'' has been a creed he has followed since he survived a horrific fire as an 8-year-old child. Having escaped the Our Lady of the Angels School blaze, which killed 92 of his classmates and three nuns, in 1958, the Chicago native was determined to live a meaningful life, which he did as a musician with the Babys, Journey and Bad English.

He's had his most success with Journey, writing or co-writing many of the band's big hits in the '80s. Thanks to a resurgence of 'Don't Stop Believin'' -- famously played in 'The Sopranos' finale, covered on 'Glee' and blasted in sports stadiums everywhere -- Journey waged a major comeback in 2008, scoring a Top 10 album with new frontman Arnel Pineda, a Filipino singer the band discovered on YouTube.

Now the band is back with 'Eclipse,' its second Top 20 album in three years. The record, partly influenced by Cain's Hindu beliefs, is a nod to Pineda and the spirit of 'Don't Stop Believin',' the song Cain introduced to the band 30 years ago.

It's been kind of a remarkable comeback. Did you guys think you'd one day be back on the charts?

To use a cliché, we wrote the song 'Don't Stop Believin'' and we never did. We knew that it would just be a matter of time 'til we'd hit it and get it right. When Arnel got in the band, we believed we had something special and we thought that people would relate to his voice, because he blew us away. And it takes a lot to blow us away -- we're pretty critical.

John Callen as Oin and Peter Hambleton as Gloin in The Hobbit

Distant cousins of Thorin Oakenshield, these two doughty Northern Dwarves join the Company out of a sense of loyalty to their kin, and also because they have a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Along with Bombur, Gloin is the only other married Dwarf in the Company (there being a shortage of female dwarves in general). His wife is an acclaimed beauty with a particularly fine beard. Gloin is the proud father of a young son, Gimli, who will go on to become part of the famous Fellowship of the Ring.

Seven Famous Movie Roles That Nearly Went To WAY Different Actors

Looking for Gene Wilder being interviewed about Wonka role

Posted: 08 Jul 2011 10:34 AM PDT

I'm doing a presentation and there's a very specific clip I'm trying to find for it.

Does anyone have a copy of an interview with Gene Wilder in which he talked about Wonka's "Grand Introduction" with the false limp and the cane. I believe it was on a DVD extra I viewed sometime 2000-2002, but I may have seen it elsewhere.

If any noble soul has a copy of that footage and like to share it with me, it would be much appreciated. Wilder's answer is probably 30 seconds long, but a very important 30 seconds for my particular thesis.

(if this wasn't the appropriate venue, kindly redirect me. I'm new)

Texas Rangers Player Josh Hamilton 'Distraught' over Fan's Death

Posted: 08 Jul 2011 10:48 AM PDT

josh-hamilton.jpg
A tragic accident occurred Thursday in Arlington, Texas, where the Texas Rangers were playing the Oakland Athletics, when a 39-year-old fan fell to his death after trying to catch a foul ball thrown by Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton. The ball was thrown to firefighter Shannon Stone by Hamilton after the fan called out to the baseball player, reports Sports Illustrated. Stone, who was there with his young son, fell over the railing in his attempt to catch it. Footage shows Stone falling head first before landing behind a 14-foot-high wall that supports a score display. Although he was conscious when he was placed on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance, Stone died on the way to the hospital, after reportedly going into cardiac arrest. Hamilton "is very distraught over this, as the entire team is," said team president Nolan Ryan. "We had a very tragic accident tonight, and one of our fans lost their life reaching over the rail trying to get a ball," Ryan continued. "As an organization, and as our team members and our staff, we're very heavy-hearted about this, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family."
