Would anyone else have preferred a Green Arrow movie starring Jeremy Renner instead of Thor? Posted: 24 Jul 2011 10:08 AM PDT Now that we know Jeremy Renner is playing the Green Arrow in the Avengers movie, I feel cheated out of a possible Nolan-esque Green Arrow movie. The Green Arrow was, in many ways, a parallel to Batman, and his mythology would have lent itself beautifully to the "dark gritty superhero movie". Also, seriously, Jeremy Renner. Cmon! A Community Love Fest Hits Comic-Con Posted: 24 Jul 2011 10:35 AM PDT "Can I get a 'pop pop'?" TV Guide Magazine's L.A. Bureau Chief Michael Schneider, who moderated the Community panel, asked a crowd of 2,000 fans before the cast hit the stage at Comic-Con. The audience channeled their inner Magnitude and obliged enthusiastically, setting the tone of fan love for the rest of the hour-long session. The entire cast — minus Alison Brie, who was unavailable due to a filming conflict — ran on stage to deafening cheers, with the loudest being reserved for Donald Glover and Joel McHale. But the surprise cast member of the hour was Annie's Boobs, Greendale's resident monkey, who delivered the Community Season 2 DVD to creator Dan Harmon. "I don't know what she's doing, but I think she's pooping," said Harmon after the skit.... Other Links From TVGuide.com |

'Captain America' vs. 'Harry Potter': Who Won at the Box Office? Posted: 24 Jul 2011 10:21 AM PDT "Captain America: The First Avenger" showed its mettle at the box office this weekend, strong-arming "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2." The 3-D film starring Chris Evans as the comic-book hero, earned a solid $65.8 million this weekend, according to L.A. Times, while, "Deathly Hallows, Part 2," which grossed more than any other film ever in its opening weekend, saw ticket sales fall considerably from last weekend, only taking in $48.1 million. The domestic total for the final "Potter" film now stands at $274.2 million. The weekend's other new release, the sexy, R-rated comedy "Friends with Benefits," started off with a decent $18.5 million. |

SDCC '11: Hulk Character Poster For The Avengers Revealed! Posted: 24 Jul 2011 10:08 AM PDT With the San Diego Comic Con winding down, MARVEL has debuted the final concept poster for The Avengers featuring none other than The Incredible Hulk, featuring an even more faithful look to the comics. We now have our very first look at The Avengers Assembled! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MARVEL'S The Avengers hit theaters May 4, 2012 starring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. UPDATE: Captain America Continues To Perform Well; May Not Beat THOR's Opening! Posted: 24 Jul 2011 08:22 AM PDT Deadline report that following it's $4 Million midnight opening, Friday's $25.7M and Saturday's $22M, Captain America: The First Avenger is well on its way to bringing in $60+M (as was predicted by Paramount) but the site also reveal that it's now looking more likely to be around the $65.5M mark, just a little bit under THOR's $65.7M. Interestingly, they also point out: The movie earned an 'A-' CinemaScore. (Thor earned a B+). Exit polls showed 43% of the audience was under age 25 vs 57% over age 25 while 64% were male vs 36% female. (Thor was 62% male & 28% under 25.) Does this matter? Well, no. The fact it was able to knock Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows from the #1 spot is a bonus, while these domestic figures are a good indication that we can expect to see a sequel. SDCC '11: Video Interviews With Nic Cage, John Cho, Damon Lindelof And Stana Katic! Posted: 24 Jul 2011 08:12 AM PDT With big panels from DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios being pretty much non-existent this year, there's been a lot less in the way of "BIG" news that I'm sure many of us would have liked. (although we have been treated to a few decent scoops) In many ways, it's hard to believe that it was this time last year when we all thought Joss Whedon had cast Nathan Fillion as Ant-Man, and The Avengers assembled on stage together for the first time. Well, that doesn't mean there's not plenty of other smaller bits and pieces of news to enjoy! Here is another round-up of video interviews from Comic Con, covering Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Star Trek 2 and Batman: Arkham City courtesy of the guys over at IGN and On The Red Carpet. What is your controversial opinion on movies? Posted: 24 Jul 2011 07:28 AM PDT So what opinion (concerning movies) do you have that is different than that of most people? Mine: The Phantom Menace is in my opinion the best movie of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Yes, Jar Jar Binks is annoying, some of the characters are thinly veiled racial stereotypes, battle droids shouldn't talk, the midi-chlorians and C3PO's origin make no sense and the pod race is a drag. But the other two are stupid, badly acted CGI wank fests ruining Darth Vader. [link] [10 comments] |
