It's Official! Charlie Sheen to Show 'Anger' on TV

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 11:04 AM PDT

Former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen is returning to TV, starring in the new sitcom "Anger Management," loosely based on the 2003 hit comedy feature, starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson.

Lionsgate is set to distribute, with Joe Roth producing and Sheen retaining a significant ownership stake in the series. The show will vary from the film, with Sheen's character becoming a counselor to defendants with anger management problems while dealing with his own anger issues. Natch. Sheen said in a statement, "I chose 'Anger Management' because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept. It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favorite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth." Roth said, "Who better than Charlie Sheen to tackle 'Anger Management'? With Charlie's incredible talent and comedic gifts, he remains the leading man of TV sitcoms. I'm excited to collaborate with him once again." Roth and Sheen have worked together on five features, including "Major League," "Young Guns" and "Three Musketeers." No word yet on which network will pick up the series.

A month after losing bandmate Clarence Clemons to a stroke, Bruce Springsteen performed at an intimate tribute to the E Street saxophonist on Sunday, July 17.

The rock legend's performance was a surprise for the few hundred people packed into the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, N.J. The bill featured an opening set by Clemons' son Nick and a headlining slot by J.T. Bowen and the Soul Cruisers. Bowen was the singer of the Red Bank Rockers, the Big Man's band in the '80s.

As a DJ played Justin Bieber's hit "One Less Lonely Girl" during a Malibu, Calif., wedding reception, the singer happened to be walking by along with girlfriend Selena Gomez — and decided to crash.

"We heard a party so we decided to just come. So let's party," Bieber said on the disc jockey's microphone. Bieber and Gomez hung around a few minutes to take photos and meet the bride and groom.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Split: Were There Clues?

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 10:43 AM PDT

They shared seven years of marriage, two kids, and even a reality show. What went wrong between Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony? "Extra" is breaking down the clues behind their split -- and how much is at stake for the power couple -- reportedly worth almost $200 million.

jlopez-manthony4.jpg

The first clues point to their time spent apart; the couple had not been seen together in public since early June. Last month, J.Lo went to promote her "Love?" album in Europe without Anthony by her side.

Marc also spent most of the summer away from Lopez while he filmed his new medical drama, "HawthoRNe," with Jada Pinkett Smith. Anthony, currently in Colombia for a concert, addressed his separation from his wife. "They're saying I'm single," Marc said on stage during his show at Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park.

Another indication of their isolation from one another was during last weekend's star-studded royal event. Jennifer, joined by her mother, met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the BAFTA gala, without Marc... and without her wedding ring.

J.Lo and Anthony Not Backing Out of Their Reality Show

With a divorce now looming, many are left wondering how the high-profile couple will manage to work together on their Latin talent search show, "Q'Viva!" -- and what kind of settlement will take place. According to Forbes, Jennifer, the richest person of Latin American descent in Hollywood, is worth $150 million and Marc is worth $40 million.

J.Lo, who commands $15 million per movie, has profited $350 million from her clothing lines, currently has 16 different perfume scents, and earns $2 million annually from her production company.

Lopez and Anthony share a number of multi-million dollar properties, including an $8.5-million Hollywood Hills estate, $1-million Miami penthouse, two Long Island homes worth a total of $6 million, and will soon launch their lifestyle fashion venture with Kohl's, expected to generate up to $3-billion.

The couple made the announcement of their separation on Friday, insisting the "difficult" decision was "amicable."

What are your favorite pieces of movie music?

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 09:04 AM PDT

Hi Reddit! I just had the desire to make a grooveshark playlist with my favorite songs from movies. These could be from a movie soundtrack, or just songs featured in a movie. I"m curious to hear your opinions.

I'm looking for those bits of music that get you so caught up in the moment that you want to go and just watch that scene over and over again. The ones you look up online as soon as you can. The ones you wait till the end of the credits to see who they're by.

If there's interest (and someone can show me how) I'll post the grooveshark playlist.

The music can be new or old, so long as it's awesome.

Anyone Else Excited For Todd Solondz's Next Film?

He is one of my favourite directors, so good at capturing dysfunctional American lives. His next film, Dark Horse is one I am excited for and will definitely be checking out. Also, Christopher Walken.

Would anyone be down for making an "r/movies essential films" list?

Posted: 18 Jul 2011 09:10 AM PDT

Or does that already exist and I am unaware? People could suggest a title here then upvotes + comment agreement decides what gets on the list. We could break it down by genre, etc. We could make it kind of like this

Blake Sennett Rebounded From Rilo Kiley Split by Resurrecting the Elected

There was once a time when Blake Sennett wasn't sure he'd ever make another record. After frontwoman Jenny Lewis called for an end to Rilo Kiley in the wake of 2007's 'Under the Blacklight,' the guitarist took a step back from the music industry, including his other band, the Elected. And if it wasn't for a pal sending Sennett back into the studio in 2010, 'Bury Me in My Rings' might never have surfaced.

"My friend Jason [Cupp] said, 'I'm coming to your house and we're going into the studio and we're going to record for a week, or two weeks,'" Sennett tells Spinner. "I was sort of balked at first and then I was like, 'What the hell? This is great, it'll be fun, I haven't played music in forever. Let's do it.'"
