TDKR: Henri Ducard = Ra's Al Ghul?

Posted: 22 Jul 2011 08:06 AM PDT

Most entertainment sites refer to Liam Neeson reprising his role as Ra's Al Ghul, but wasn't that played by Ken Watanabe? Or is Ra's Al Ghul name just given whoever is the leader at the time?

Is Solaris (the original) the peak of space madness in film, or is there something more maddening?

Posted: 22 Jul 2011 07:54 AM PDT

I am watching it again for the fourth time, and I really can't go higher than this bar.

Just looking for suggestions, and you will have to go way out there, for something epically astral loony.

Transformers: Revenge of the fallen gives a really weird political messege of political situation of the time.

Posted: 22 Jul 2011 06:46 AM PDT

In Transformers 2 there are a few lines that really don't make sense:

The newest member of your team. I understand they came here after you sent a message into space, an open invitation; come to earth, vetted by no one at the white house.

So let me ask, if we ultimatly conclude that our national security is best served by denying you further asylum on OUR planet, will you leave peacefully?

To me these are two really weird lines found in the movie. My point is what does a invitation to earth have to be vetted by the white house.

And why does the guy say when speakin' about american national security say that he wants to deny asylum to "OUR planet".

Also i think the entire line is stupid, hypotheticly if the autobots were to be denied asylum because of national security. Then all they would have to do would be to move to cananda...problem solved =)

Simple Minds' Jim Kerr Looks Back in 'Amazement' at 'Breakfast Club' Success

David Ellis

Jim Kerr, founder and frontman of Simple Minds, recently released his first solo album, 'LostBoy! AKA Jim Kerr,' and watched it head to No. 8 on the UK Independent Charts. Recently, Kerr spoke with Spinner while on Simple Minds' European tour about the new album and how exactly that whole 'Breakfast Club' thing came together.

First of all, how is the tour going?

Great. We play the things people expect us to play, which keeps the greatest-hits audience happy. We also play the songs that the hardcore fans want to hear, which keeps them happy, some really obscure stuff. We never play the same set exactly twice. There are always a few surprises, some spur-of-the-moment covers or two just to show the roots of the band, maybe a Doors cover or a Roxy Music tune or Lou Reed or Bowie. The shows are comprehensive. Last night we did songs from our first album, and a song that was written two weeks ago! There's a thin line between traditions and being a museum piece.

How do you feel about the legacy of 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' and 'The Breakfast Club'?

We look on it with great amazement, great pleasure for what it brought to us. You'd think it was part of the game plan but it wasn't at all. A&M, [who] owned the band at the time, were venturing into movies and John Hughes' movies were their first ones. They understood how to sell records off of movie soundtracks. Right then, we'd had success in most places but America was still a tough nut for us to crack. We toured and toured, making a little headway, but not getting beyond college radio, which was still cool. We thought maybe that's it for us, and that was fine.

Hiding in Mexico? Casey Anthony's Picture-Perfect Plan

Posted: 22 Jul 2011 11:04 AM PDT

"Extra's" Jerry Penacoli sat down with movie producer Larry Garrison, who speculated that Anthony is hiding in Mexico, and how she plans to make a quick fortune with pictures.

"I was told she would be staying at her attorney's home in Mexico," said Garrison, adding that Casey's lawyer, Jose Baez, took photos of Casey on a beach in Mexico and told her "not to look in the camera" so the pics would look more desirable. "They were partying on the jet and there were pictures of Casey drinking champagne and they wanted to broker those photos," Garrison revealed, adding, "All of this is being orchestrated by Jose Baez. I've spoken to him many times and his mentality was making money." TV producer Al Taylor recently met with Nancy Grace to say Casey already met with him in Palm Springs, and only had one thing on her mind. "The first thing she [Casey] said when we had the meeting was, 'Where's my check?' I tried to explain to her that we're willing to put a $50,000 deposit down, but obviously can't give her the million dollars and say, 'See ya in a week.' I don't quite trust her for that."
