Franklin & Bash renewed for second season on TNT

TNT has summoned Franklin & Bash back to the stand for a second season of the hit legal drama starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer. Currently airing Wednesdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), Franklin & Bash ranks as one of basic cable's top new series of the summer. Franklin & Bash is produced by Four Sycamore Productions, Left Coast Productions and FanFare Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television, with Jamie Tarses, Kevin Falls, Bill Chais and Jason Ensler serving as executive producers. TNT has ordered 10 episodes for the second season.

"This summer, Franklin & Bash has broken out as a hugely entertaining series with great characters, sharp writing and a terrific cast," said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming, for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. "We're thrilled that the show has drawn such a remarkably strong following and look forward to bringing it back next summer."

In Franklin & Bash, Gosselaar and Meyer star as two young, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants street lawyers who cause a seismic culture clash when they join a legendary, button-down law firm. Malcolm McDowell plays Stanton Infeld, a Renaissance man and the patriarch of the law firm. Also starring are Dana Davis, Kumail Nanjiani, Reed Diamond and Garcelle Beauvais.

Since premiering on June 1, Franklin & Bash has drawn 3.9 million viewers in Live + 7, ranking it among basic cable's Top 5 new series for the summer-to-date. The series is averaging an outstanding 1.8 million adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. Franklin & Bash scores a significant number of viewers through time-shifted viewing, including a boost of well over 50% among key adult demos.

Dan Peek, a founding member of folk rockers America, passed away on Sunday, July 24 Billboard reports. The 60-year-old's cause of death is still unknown.

Peek, who wrote the hit song 'Lonely People,' left the band in 1977 to pursue a solo career in Christian Rock. Former bandmate Dewey Bunnel writes on his website of loss of his friend:

"I am so sorry to learn of Dan's passing. Dan, along with Gerry [Beckley] and myself, formed the band America as teenagers after being great friends in high school during the late '60s. It was a joyous time for the three of us, full of excitement and laughter. We created lasting music together and experienced a life that we could never have imagined. Dan was an equal and integral part of that early history, and I have never forgotten the good times we spent making that music and learning about life together."

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. John Travolta's Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father starts production in January

Fiore Films, an independent production company, today announced that Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father will begin principal photography on-location in New York on January 3, with pre-production starting in September.

Academy Award-winning director Barry Levinson and Academy Award-nominated writer James Toback, the same team that made Bugsy which earned ten Academy Award nominations, are completing a revised version of the original screenplay. Levinson is set to direct the all-star cast that includes John Travolta, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Kelly Preston.

Fiore Films expects to announce the casting of John Gotti, Jr., within the next few weeks. There has been much speculation surrounding who will be cast in the co-starring role opposite Travolta. Other roles to be cast include daughter Victoria Gotti.

Fiore Films acquired life rights from John Gotti, Jr., the son of the late mob boss John Gotti, to the story of his life with his father. The deal marks the first time a member of the Gotti family has entered into an agreement to tell their story for a major motion picture.

Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father reveals the relationship of a father who lived and died by the mob code and a son who chose to leave that world behind and redeem himself. Never before has there been such an inside look at the life of the Gotti family and their world of danger, betrayal and redemption.

Fiore Films, LLC is a film production company with offices in Los Angeles and New Jersey. Films currently in production or development include: Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father and Mob Street. More information is available at FioreFilmsLLC.com. Updates about the Gotti movie can be found on Twitter @gottimovie.

Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father comes to theaters in 2013 and stars John Travolta, Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Preston, Ella Bleu Travolta, Al Pacino. The film is directed by Barry Levinson.
