I have never seen the well known movie franchises.

Posted: 02 Jan 2012 07:06 AM PST

Star Wars, LOTR, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Alien, Narnia (except the first one) The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. I know plot but haven't sat down and watched it. I realized this after catching the tail end of the Star Wars marathon when Luke is turning himself in. I never knew there was something after "No, I am your father." I sat there and thought to myself, "I should watch the rest of the movie before watching this part."

Where should I start?

I have seen Back To The Future, Jurassic Park and The Godfather.

Mark Wahlberg on Family and 'Contraband'

Actor Mark Wahlberg sat down with "Extra" to talk about his new action thriller "Contraband" - and about how he went from rapper and underwear model to family man with wife Rhea Durham.
mark-wahlberg.jpg
"My daughter's starting to hear rumblings of what I did in the past... she doesn't like it," laughed Wahlberg, adding, "I got to do my thing for a long time and then I was fortunate enough to meet the woman I was going to spend the rest of my life with and we have four beautiful children." Starring with Kate Beckinsale and Giovanni Ribisi in "Contraband," Wahlberg plays a former drug smuggler who is dragged back into the business when his family is threatened. Mark explained he likes to kick butt, but also have a good time with the cast. "Everybody's very serious, but in between takes we're having a lot of fun. We're going out, we're getting dinner." Check out all the "Contraband" action when it thunders into theaters January 13.

RESULTS: What Do You Think Of Bane's Voice In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES?

Posted: 02 Jan 2012 09:37 AM PST

Last month, we got a brand new theatrical trailer for the Christopher Nolan-directed film The Dark Knight Rises, a third chapter in his Batman franchise. The trailer featured a lot of new footage, but for those who haven't seen the prologue, we finally had a chance to hear Tom Hardy as Bane. The reactions to Bane's voice in the prologue attached to IMAX screens of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol were, well, very negative. A lot of people couldn't understand what he was saying. And it seems that Nolan won't be altering his voice in post-production. But, there is still seven months until the release of the film, so anything is possible. Personally, I really don't have a problem with his voice. I actually like it. Maybe a couple of tweaks here and there in post-production would be a good idea though. And now with over 6400 votes, here are the results: Plus,

Paramount Pictures earns $5.17 billion worldwide in 2011

Paramount Pictures announced today it ended 2011 in the No. 1 position among all studios, having achieved the highest total combined gross of any studio for the year, earning a record $5.17 billion worldwide. The studio, which released a total of 16 new releases domestically this year, placed first in the North American market share with $1.96 billion, while also amassing record grosses at the international box office with $3.21 billion.

"This achievement reflects the combined efforts of our entire team across the globe and the careful process by which we select the projects and partners we believe in," said Paramount Pictures Chairman & CEO Brad Grey. "We produce pictures that aspire to entertain audiences around the world, while at the same time we have sought to find innovative ways to reach movie-goers in this changing entertainment environment."

"This year our studio reached some key milestones, including the release of three vibrant Paramount franchise pictures and our first original CGI animated film. Our studio had its first ever $1 billion worldwide grossing film in Michael Bay's hit Transformers: Dark of the Moon; we successfully re-launched our Mission: Impossible franchise with Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Brad Bird; our latest installment in the Paranormal Activity franchise had another $100 million dollar success; our first original animated film Rango, from director Gore Verbinski, earned rave reviews and more than $100 million at the domestic box office; and we released global phenomenon Super 8, directed by J.J. Abrams, who will now direct the newest Star Trek for 2013. We also benefited from our distribution partnerships with DreamWorks Animation and Marvel and I want to thank them both."

"Film President Adam Goodman and his team in production and development, and Vice Chairman Rob Moore and his team in marketing and distribution, did outstanding work and truly delivered. As we prepare to celebrate Paramount's 100th year in 2012, we are all grateful to be part of this wonderful institution as it continues to prosper," added Grey.

In 2012, Paramount's release slate highlights include World War Z, a zombie thriller starring Brad Pitt and directed by Marc Forster, G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, the next installment in the global franchise starring Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum, a new chapter in the Paranormal Activity franchise, and The Dictator, starring Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by Larry Charles, the team behind Borat.

The 2011 box office results seen from the studio were built on a wide reaching range of titles, including the following (with current domestic grosses): True Grit ($85 mil this year, $171.2 million total), Ivan Reitman's No Strings Attached ($70.7 mil), Jon M. Martin Freeman Wants Love Scene in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Posted: 02 Jan 2012 08:52 AM PST

Martin Freeman wants Hobbit love

In what is kind of a strange story, actor Martin Freeman has gone on record to declare that his character Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is not a virgin. And he would like director Peter Jackson to acknowledge this with a love scene shown in either one of the two upcoming prequels.

To prepare for the role of Bilbo, Martin Freeman claims that he did consider every aspect of the character's life, including his past relationships with other hobbits.

"I think he's had sex. I'm not sure. I'm trying to convince Peter to write that scene in..."

Its doubtful that Peter Jackson will focus on any sort of Hobbit tryst in his upcoming two-part fantasy adventure. It is, after all, being marketed as a family film. There has also been much debate over the years about Bilbo's sexual persuasion, and that kind of controversy will surely not be courted or commented on here, except maybe in the slightest way.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters December 14th, 2012 and stars Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.
