How much does FX President and General Manager John Landgraf know about his network's upcoming Charlie Sheen comedy Anger Management? Something he calls "a snippet of a story line."

The show, a loose adaptation of the 2003 Adam Sandler-Jack Nicholson movie of the same name, will premiere in June. FX executives have yet to see a single script, but Landgraf said he was convinced by a good idea pitched in part by the kinder, gentler Sheen seen over the last couple of months on something of a media mea culpa tour.

FX President Offers An Update On POWERS; Calls It A "Difficult" Adaptation

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 09:07 AM PST

"We didn't pick the pilot of Powers up; we went back and Chick Eglee, who had written it, did a fairly substantial rewrite that would require pretty extensive reshoots of the pilot," he revealed says The Hollywood Reporter. "Right now we're in the process of deciding whether to pull the trigger on the reshoot." Despite the fact that Landgraf is a fan of the source material, he went on to discuss how challenging it has been to try and bring the often dark comic book to life in a real world setting. "This is as difficult an adaptation as I've ever worked on. Difficult adaptations interest me but this is a really hard one. When you think about a 10 o'clock drama -- a Sopranos-esque drama or any serious drama -- there's never been a feature film or TV series that's taken the super hero genre into that type of tonality,

Johnny English 2 was "so-so", but the extra scene after the credits was EPIC! Classic Rowan Atkinson! (Mr Bean)

Did anyone actually enjoy Devil?

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 08:22 AM PST

I just watched it last night, and I have to say, it wasn't that bad. I thought it was very interesting. The only thing I didn't like was how they handled the reveal. But other than that, it was very interesting.

Did anyone else not hate it?

Gerry Rafferty's Fiancee Seeks Portion of Late Singer's Estate

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 01:15 PM PST

Filed under:

Stuart Mostyn, Redferns

When Gerry Rafferty, the Scottish singer and songwriter behind the hits 'Baker Street' and 'Stuck in the Middle With You,' died last year at the age of 63, he was engaged to marry a woman named Ezina Fuschini. Unfortunately, the Stealers Wheel founder had written his will before meeting her in 2008, and as a result, she received no part of his $1.9 million estate.

Now, the Daily Mail reports, Fuschini has launched a legal fight to get what she says is her fair share of the money. Invoking Britain's Inheritance Act of 1975, a statute that allows individuals who had been financially supported by deceased parties to seek "reasonable financial provision," Rafferty's former fiancee is appealing to Britain's High Court.

Following Rafferty's death in January 2011 -- the result of liver failure brought on by years of alcohol abuse -- his entire estate went to his daughter, Martha. Songwriting royalties, meanwhile, were put in a trust given to his granddaughter Celia.

25 Fun Facts About the Golden Globes!

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 10:07 AM PST

Did you know that Meryl Streep holds the record for most individual Golden Globe nominations? "Extra" has compiled a list of fun facts about the awards ceremony. The 2012 Golden Globes air Sunday, January 15 on NBC (5 PM PST/8 PM EST)!

Fun Facts About the Golden Globes

Going National

The first national telecasts of the awards were during a special segment on "The Andy Williams Show" in 1964 and 1965.

The Beginning

Paul Lukas won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the first awards presentation.

Host with the Most

The annual telecast is put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

HFPA

Founded in October 1943 by eight foreign journalists, the organization was originally called the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association. The associations current president is Philip Berk.

A Golden Star

Judy Garland was the first female recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 1962.

Rat Pack Rewind

Awards were handed out by journalists in the HFPA up until 1958, when Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. stormed the stage with whiskeys and cigarettes and took over the show. Since then, stars have ruled the show.

Five Favorites

The most Globes won by a film is five -- and the honor has been shared by five winners: "Doctor Zhivago" (1966), "Love Story" (1971), "The Godfather" (1973), "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1976), and "A Star is Born" (1977).

Perfect Record

Three films -- "Doctor Zhivago", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", and "A Star is Born" -- all received five nominations and won five Globes.

Awards Sweep

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is the only film to win the Globe in all five major categories (Best Motion Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay).

Biggest Shut-Outs

"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1967) and "The Godfather, Part III" (1991) each received seven nominations -- but no awards.

'Nashville' Nine

"Nashville" (1976) holds the record for most nominations ever for a film -- but the film only won one the Best Song award for Keith Carradine's "I'm Easy."

Academy Snub

Actress Rosalind Russell won all five Golden Globes that she's been nominated for, but never nabbed an Oscar for her achievements.

Star of 2005

Jamie Foxx holds the record for most nominations in one year -- in 2005, he was up for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) "Ray"; Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Drama) "Collateral" and Best Actor in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television, "Redemption."

From 'The Office' to the Stage

Ricky Gervais will host the 2011 Globes, returning for the second year in a row.

Three-Way

There has only been one three-way tie in a category at the Globes -- in 1989, Jodie Foster ("The Accused"), Shirley MacLaine ("Madame Sousatzka"), and Sigourney Weaver ("Gorillas in the Mist") all won for Best Actress.

Youngest Recipient

Ricky Schroeder became the youngest award recipient ever when he won the Globe for Best New Star of the Year in 1980 for "The Champ" at age 9.

Top Actresses

Only four actresses have won two acting awards in the same year: Sigourney Weaver (1989), Joan Plowright (1993), Helen Mirren (2007) and Kate Winslet (2009).

Unbeatable at 80

Jessica Tandy is the oldest award recipient ever, having won Best Actress at age 80 for "Driving Miss Daisy" (1990).

Nomination Domination

Meryl Streep holds the record for most individual nominations -- twenty-five (as of the 2010 nominations). Jack Lemmon is second with twenty-two.

The Award

The first physical award that was given to winners was a scroll.

Star Protest

Marlon Brando refused his Best Actor Globe for "The Godfather" in 1973 to protest U.S. "imperialism and racism". He also refused his Oscar statuette for the same role.

Cecil B. DeMille Award

The famous filmmaker was the first recipient of this award for a lifetime of achievements in motion pictures. Robert De Niro will be honored with the 2011 Cecil B. DeMille award.

Miss Golden Globe

Gia Mantegna, the daughter of Golden Globe-nominated actor Joe Mantegna, was named Miss Golden Globe 2011. She currently stars in TeenNick's new series "Gigantic," which takes a fictional look at the complicated lives of children of Hollywood celebrities.

2011 Top Honors

This year, "The King's Speech" leads the pack with seven nominations. "The Fighter" and "The Social Network" follow with six nominations each.

Broadcast 2011

The 2011 Golden Globes will be broadcast LIVE Sunday, January 16 on NBC at 5 PM PST and 8 PM EST.

COMICS: The Final Issue Of Alan Moore's Run On Image's SUPREME Will Be Released This April

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 08:50 AM PST

Source: USA Today Drawn by original Image founder Erik Larsen, 'Supreme' Issue #63 which will be released in April will be the last written by Alan Moore before Larsen takes over both script and art duties the series. Seeking to kick-start the series once again, Image dusted off one last script from Moore which will serve as a spring-point for Larsen to take the series into a new direction. First appearing in Robert Liefeld's Youngblood in 1992, Supreme was at first a Superman archetype who was a complete a**hole. When Alan Moore took over writing duties in Supreme Issue #41, he retconned the character to be more similar to the do-gooding Man of Steel that the public is more familiar with, giving him a mild-mannered alter-ego (Ethan Crane), a Lex Luthor-ish nemesis in Darius Dax, and even his own Lois Lane in the form of Diana Dane. Said Larsen

In what horror movies does the ending live up to the beginning?

Posted: 15 Jan 2012 07:17 AM PST

So often I see complaints about the big reveal (whether it be information or a monster) at the end of a horror movie as letting down the tone and whatever else of the rest of the film. So what movies do you think make their ending work, and what makes them different from horror films where it doesn't?
