10. Salt-n-Pepa, 'None of Your Business'
Before Azealia Banks smiled wide and announced to the world, "I guess that c--t gettin' eaten," Salt-n-Pepa offered us these words of wisdom: "Who are you to judge?" Old school hip-hop artists like this trio paved the way for forthright female rappers like Banks and Nicki Minaj by giving women permission to revel in their own pleasure and sexuality. In their 1993 hit 'None of Your Business,' Salt-n-Pepa make it pretty clear that women who enjoy sex have a right to be free from judgment -- and, even if you've never thought about the slut/player double standard before, the song's so ridiculously catchy that it absorbs you completely. When you hear the chorus, "If I wanna take a guy home with me tonight," just try to stop yourself from shouting back, "It's none of your business!" The moral of the story? When perfect pop meets politics, politics goes down easy.

Older Spider-Man Cartoons Pulled To Get Ready For ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

Posted: 19 Jan 2012 09:45 AM PST

If you love watching the classic Spider-Man cartoons such as Spider-Man The Animated Series, and Spectacular Spider-Man I hope you got your fill. Disney has announced that it is pulling those two cartoons in preparation for their newest animated series featuring Spidey titled, Ultimate Spider-Man. The move has been confirmed by a representative for Disney XD to Toon Zone, and was made to avoid confusion with the new series. When asked if the other series would be making a return after the premiere of Ultimate Spider-Man, the representative said they did not expect it anytime soon. Other programming such as The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man will remain on the air as this move was made with Spider-Man related cartoons only. Ultimate Spider-Man will center around a teenage Peter Parker juggling the typical growing pains of high-school with the not-so-typical growing pains of

Behind the Scenes with The Finder

The Finder | Photo Credits: Patrick Ecclesine/Fox

It's more than a bit ironic that the set of Fox's new drama series The Finder is, well... so darn hard to find. That's probably because the last place anyone would expect to discover a Florida Keys dive bar would be in the middle of a chilly Los Angeles oil field. But sure enough, in a well-lit clearing at the tail end of a dusty trail of pumping derricks, the cameras are rolling on a night scene that finds stars Geoff Stults, Michael Clarke Duncan and Mercedes Masöhn throwing back beers after wrapping their characters' case of the week.

At nearly 6-foot-4 and with perpetual scruff, rugged 34-year-old Stults looks just like the kind of dude who'd work out of a bar in the middle of nowhere, or — as the watering hole is dubbed — The Ends of the Earth.

Stults plays Walter Sherman, an Iraq War veteran-turned-finder of lost people and things. Offering a tour of the set, he explains, "We have the...

On Location: Jersey Shore Returns to Seaside Heights for Season 5

Posted: 19 Jan 2012 10:35 AM PST

Jersey Shore | Photo Credits: Ian Spanier/MTV

It's a drizzly winter afternoon in Seaside Heights, and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi — her newly slimmed-down body poured into a skintight dress that barely covers her backside — sits at the bar, legs crossed. Unlike the drunken, foulmouthed clown she seems to embody much of the time on the MTV reality hit Jersey Shore, Snooki is quiet, even demure, thanks in part to being under the weather. "I was burning up last night," she says. Her fever is accompanied by a sore throat and swollen glands. But, she says, "I know when to turn on the switch."

And turn it on she does, along with her seven other cast mates — Deena Cortese, "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino — scattered throughout the Beachcomber Bar and Grill in the town that launched them into pop-culture infamy. The gang, who wrapped...

Hey r/movies, just watch “The Fountain” for the first time and had a question.

Posted: 19 Jan 2012 09:46 AM PST

Why in the hell did this movie get destroyed by critics, I understand it may have been a bit confusing yet when reading their reviews it almost seemed like they didn't understand it whatsoever. They continuously called it a sci-fi love story, yet I saw the main girl as a spiritual guide rather than as a lover. The romantic relationship was only a way to get him to confront death and accept it rather than fight it. Moreover, it seemed to be based off of an alchemic philosophy yet tied in with Catholicism because of the time period in Spain. In the end I absolutely loved the movie and, although not the directors best work, by no means deserved a 26% on rotten tomatoes (Top critics only).

So what does r/movies think?

(Also if this is one of those movies we circle jerk over and I just didn't know yet as I am fairly new to this community, please let me know)

To those of you movie buffs, is there a particular mindset that helps you enjoy old movies?

Posted: 19 Jan 2012 07:31 AM PST

I've recently filled my netflix queue with movies from a list of 'movies everyone should see,' and the majority of them are old (as in earlier than 1960). I want to make sure when I start watching these that I actually enjoy them. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone is interested, this is the list I used.
