Newt Gingrich Slams Open Marriage Allegations: 'This Story is False' Posted: 20 Jan 2012 10:56 AM PST After his ex-wife told ABC News that Newt Gingrich wanted an open marriage, the presidential hopeful opened the GOP debate Thursday with a sharp denial, including an attack on the press. Gingrich insisted, "Let me be quite clear. This story is false. Every personal friend I have who knew us in that period says the story was false." He continued, "I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract descent people to run for public office. And I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that." "To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question in a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine," he added, as the audience cheered. The former Speaker of the House's ex-wife, Marianne, claimed Newt had asked her to "share" him with his then-mistress Callista, whom he later made his third wife. Marianne explained on Thursday's "Nightline" that she wanted to come forward with the story to reveal the moral character of her ex. "If he's running for president, he has answers to give."

Prometheus Based on Story Ideas from Sigourney Weaver Posted: 20 Jan 2012 09:16 AM PST As originally intended, Prometheus is shaping up to be a proper prequel to 1979's Alien, offering a backstory on the infamous Space Jockey that is seen in that original film's first opening moments. It's no secret that Noomi Rapace is playing a character in the same vein as Sigourney Weaver's iconic Ripley. Both characters share the same DNA. They are tough, pro-feminist ass kickers who save the day. The heroines of this universe. So far, we haven't heard anything from Sigourney Weaver on the prospects of Noomi Rapace taking over this archetype in the franchise. Early this week, the genre legend, who has also starred in fan favorites like Ghostbusters and Avatar, spoke out on Prometheus, saying that she is anxious to see it, knowing that Ridley Scott is on board as a director. She even claims that the screenplay is based on her idea. Here is what she had to say. "Fox and I disagreed on how the franchise should continue. But I'm glad it's Ridley Scott doing it, and I'll be as curious as anyone, or maybe more curious, to see it. I think he took my suggestion. Fox wanted to go to earth and I said: 'That's so boring. Who wants to see aliens on earth?' I said 'go back to the planet'." Sigourney Weaver has no hard feelings about being replaced in this age-old franchise, though. "That's show-business. I don't take it personally." The actress, who has starred in five sci fi movies to date, her sixth being Avatar 2, went into talking about the pro-feminist aspects of Alien and Prometheus. "I don't think the producers were feminists. In the original script, they were all men. I think they thought, 'let's change it up and make the survivor a woman because no one will ever think the survivor will be a woman'. I think it was taking the pulse of society at that moment; we were another expression of how our world was changing. Women were agitating to be in the army, to work in warehouses and as truck drivers." About working with Ridley Scott on the original, she had this to say. "We worked very hard together, and I certainly credit him in making Ripley an everyman character, not just a damsel in distress, but a character who is not giving up. James Cameron was also a breath of fresh air. He is a champion of strong women who never thinks in terms of gender characteristics." And speaking of James Cameron, this is all that Sigourney Weaver had to offer on Avatar 2. "I'm excited to go back to Avatar. I know the story that James Cameron wants to tell is so much bigger." New Predator movie? I first of all love films about the future, and I love the vision presented in this one. I think the film also shows off the best parts of Tom Cruise, is stylish and creative, and touches nicely on themes of free will and corruption. How about we Boycott the Oscars? Posted: 20 Jan 2012 09:38 AM PST Hey guys so i had an idea, based off of TheDark1's idea to boycott Hollywood which is a great idea but a bit difficult. We all know that the Oscars is probably the biggest Hollywood event but if there are some Los Angelinos out there and maybe some of us online could organize something to effectively boycott the Oscars or somehow take the spotlight off of them.
