Brad Pitt & Quentin Tarantino Interview Posted: 10 Jan 2012 07:42 AM PST |
Posted: 10 Jan 2012 10:16 AM PST My buddy and I were discussing this last night and were thinking that the slightest role change in some movies could completely change how they are viewed. Looking at a list of movies and who they originally had intended to cast led me to think how much different some of these films could have been: What would the original Matrix be like if they had cast Will Smith instead of Keanu Reeves? I'm not a huge fan of Keanu in general but I find it very hard to imagine this role done by anyone but somebody who has his style of delivery and speaking. If they had put somebody like Will Smith, I feel that the character would have been completely different in terms of personality. How about Kurt Russell as Han Solo? Almost the entire main cast of Star Wars was going to have a different cast but this is the one that just stands out to me as game changer. Perhaps it is based off the fact that I find it hard to believe anyone but Harrison Ford can pull off the character now that I'm used to him being in it, but I just don't think Kurt Russell would have given the character the same suave arrogance that Ford brought to the role. Another broad idea we were curious about is if different actors had taken the place of award winning actors in some of their biggest roles. Could anyone else have done what Jack Nicholson did in One Flew Over a Cuckoos Nest? If so, who? How much different of a film would it have been? What if for some reason Marlon Brando had not been able to play his incredible role in the Godfather? Would it still be considered one of the best films of all time? A lot of What ifs, but it makes for some fun discussion and appreciation of the importance of casting. [link] [9 comments] |

Real Estate's 'Easy' Video Features a Dangerous Street Team -- Watch Posted: 10 Jan 2012 01:30 PM PST Filed under: News, Video, New Music Real Estate's new album 'Days' has been blowing up the blogosphere, and the band's latest video illustrates exactly why. The clip for 'Easy,' directed by Tom Scharpling for Funny or Die, follows the New Jersey indie rockers' street team as it aggressively pursues coverage for the band. Lead by UCB funnyman Chris Gethard, the band's cronies antagonize common city dwellers for not knowing enough about Real Estate, and, in one instance, force headphones upon an innocent passerby. After driving around in their van with the group's image plastered on back, the street teamers land upon Jake Fogelnest's radio show. |
