Posted: 28 Jan 2012 10:14 AM PST

First we were treated to dogs barking the Imperial March in a teaser for Volkswagen's Super Bowl XLVI TV spot, airing February 5th during the big game. Now we've learned that next Sunday's anticipated Star Wars themed ad will take place inside the infamous Mos Eisley Cantina, and its storyline will revolve around that most famous Snivvian of all, Snaggletooth. Volkswagen has released a teaser image with this popular alien at the forefront. Check out the return of Snaggletooth in the photo below (hopefully this will do more for his career than The Star Wars Holiday Special and his notorious dance with Maude's Bea Arthur ever did).

Soap Star Nick Santino Takes Life Following Dog Euthanasia

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 11:16 AM PST

Struggling soap opera actor Nick Santino committed suicide this week after he euthanized his beloved dog. Friends of Santino's revealed that he was under extreme pressure from his Upper West Side condo residence in New York to remove his dog from the premises, according to New York Post.

Santino euthanized his four-legged best friend Rocco, on his 47th birthday, Tuesday. He showed his guilt through a saddening suicide note, as told by his friend Stuart Sarnoff. "Today I betrayed my best friend and put down my best friend. Rocco trusted me and I failed him. He didn't deserve this." The soap star was born in Brooklyn and over the years landed roles on "All My Children" and "Guiding Light." He rescued his pit-bull puppy from a shelter many years ago. Santino had a tough upbringing. He spent his childhood in an orphanage and bounced around between foster homes. It seemed for him that finding the dog saved him." He wrote on his Facebook page, "I did not rescue Rocco, Rocco rescued me." In 2010, his condo association, 1 Lincoln Plaza, rewrote owner regulation policies, one of which banned pit-bull dogs. The ban did not include current owners' pit-bulls, but neighbors of Santino say he began to be harassed about his pet. The last phone call that Santino made was to a previous girlfriend around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. He suffered an overdose on pills and police found his body later that day. Rocco and Santino's bodies will be cremated. "One way or another, their ashes will be together forever," Sarnoff said.

What did you think of The Grey (2012)? [Spoiler inside]

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 07:56 AM PST

Saw this last night with a bud... I got the general feeling from the other people in the movie theater that it was a disappointment for them. I think they expected a happy ending and more action throughout the movie. I even got a few comments that the movie's plot was "slow to unfold" which I didn't find to be the case at all. I was constantly searching for the next screen or next attack footage like it was a horror movie.

I thought it was a poetic story. A man, who has lost so much in life from a death of his wife, is on the brink of suicide. It's ironic in the sense that he doesn't commit suicide because he's scared to die and doesn't know what's next after death. He is involved in a terrible plane crash, and seven people survive. As the plot progresses, the attachment to these characters increase as death takes them one by one. Essentially, he's learning to cope with death as these people are eaten alive by wolves. At the climax of the story, it is apparent that he's dealt with the inevitability of death, his fears, and is ready to die.

I put it to a friend like this: It was like reading literature rather than reading a comic book. Most people see Drama / Action movies and expect a comic book type movie. This was definitely a literature type movie.

Video! Dr. Drew and Erin Brockovich Discuss Mysterious Illness

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 09:35 AM PST

Host Dr. Drew Pinsky interviewed environmental activist Erin Brockovich Friday on the HLN show "Dr. Drew," talking about a mysterious illness affecting 15 high school students in Le Roy, NY.

The illness causes Tourette-like outbursts, and Brockovich conducted her own investigation, telling Dr. Drew, "I think the first thing that hit me in my gut was, 'well, you haven't necessarily ruled anything and everything in or out.' It just seemed to be a very quick diagnosis."

Watch the interview!

Brockovich explained how one of the affected family members received a note in their mailbox about a 1971 train derailment, which caused one ton of cyanide to spill and 45,000 gallons of Trichloroethylene (TCE).

"I have read and been involved in cases that we have that," Brockovich said. "TCE can be associated with neurological disorders. The contaminated rock, fill and soil was used to build the new school," she added. "We are still trying to corroborate that [story]."

Brockovich noted that the actual location of the site of derailment was four miles from the school.

Read more of the interview, and be sure to watch "Dr. Drew" on HLN weeknights!
