Aaron Sorkin Strongly Considers Writing Steve Jobs Biopic

Posted: 25 Nov 2011 10:23 AM PST

Aaron Sorkin strongly considering writing the Steve Jobs Biopic

In late October, it was rumored that Sony Pictures wanted to hire acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network ) to pen a biopic based on Walter Isaacson's authorized biography Steve Jobs, which centers on the life and work of the Apple founder and Chairman.

Earlier this week, Aaron Sorkin confirmed that Sony has approached him to take on this project, which he says he is "strongly considering". Here is his quote.

"Sony has asked me to write the movie and it's something I'm strongly considering. Right now I'm just in the thinking-about-it stages. It's a really big movie and it's going to be a great movie no matter who writes it. He was a great entrepreneur, he was a great artist, a great thinker. He's probably inspired [my 11-year-old daughter] Roxy more than he's inspired me. She plays with all his toys."

The only research Aaron Sorkin is currently doing on Steve Jobs is reading Walter Isaacson's best seller.

There is no set start date for when Steve Jobs will go into production.

Steve Jobs comes to theaters in 2013.

'Metal Evolution' Director Sam Dunn Talks Alice Cooper, Satan and Canada

VH1 Classic

There is not much Banger Films' Sam Dunn and Scot McFayden don't know about metal. The Juno-winning Canadian filmmakers began their historical and psychological dig into the oft maligned music genre with the intelligent and respectful 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey' in 2005 and followed it with the socio-political culture-crossing 'Global Metal' in 2008.

The focused 'Iron Maiden: Flight 666' and 'Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage' came next, and now a comprehensive 11-part made-for-TV series, 'Metal Evolution,' which premieres on MuchMoreMusic Friday (Nov. 25) at 10PM EST (and airs weekly on VH1 Saturdays at 10PM EST in America).

Spinner talked with Dunn about metal, Alice Cooper, Satan, and babies (yeah, babies).

You have a Masters in anthropology. How have you applied that degree to your filmmaking career and choice of subject?

It's really most relevant to the first film, 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey,' which was told through that lens of me, as one half metal fan and one half anthropologist. Because we wanted to find a way to create the film that wasn't just going to appeal to a metal audience, we thought, 'Well treating metal as a tribe and as a culture could be a way to pique people's interest. So it gave us an opportunity to broaden the audience for the show and tell a story about it that wasn't just a big pat on the back for heavy metal, but was rather an exploration of the culture and the controversy and the misunderstandings around metal music.

New Image From The Hunger Games Sees Katniss Being Escorted To Training

Nothing terribly exciting but since it's a very slow day for news I figured it was worth a look. I like this pic a lot, it gives off a kind of a Clockwork Orange vibe.. The trailer for the movie was met with a mixed reaction. I thought it looked pretty good a few dodgy looking outfits aside but then I haven't read the book so I have no idea how faithful it looks. The concept is certainly not very original but Lawrence is a fine actress and originality is not always the cornerstone of a great movie. Look at Warrior! Worth keeping an eye on anyway.
