Dead Ringers, has anyone seen this film?

Posted: 27 Nov 2011 10:25 AM PST

I recently managed to acquire a copy of the film and sat down to watch it a few weeks ago. Granted, Jeremy Irons is a fine actor and despite playing double roles as twin brothers, I was so wrapped up in the plot of the film and the characters that I'd often forget Eliot and Beverly were being played by the same actor.

I would consider the film an underrated piece of cinema, however..the feeling and overall mood of the film still managed to disturb me like no other (Red operating scrubs, anyone?)

Thoughts?

New Banners For Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows!

Posted: 27 Nov 2011 09:09 AM PST

Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his formidable colleague, Dr. Watson, in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows." Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room...until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by one Professor Moriarty. New Set Photos for The Hobbit & Scene Descriptions Involving Bilbo and Gandalf

This was a great set report by Quint, who relays information on the pivotal scenes involving Bilbo Baggin's finding the Elf made blade, Sting. This is a knife to normal sized people, but for a hobbit it's a sword. This is the same sword that Bilbo passes on to Frodo when he begins his journey in Lord of the Rings. Sting isn't just a common blade, it glows blue to warn of nearby Orcs. But, that isn't the only weapon that the group comes across while exploring the troll cave. Thorin also comes across his sword the Orchrist, which is also nicknamed the "Biter" by the Goblins of the Misty Mountains. Quint's Set Report for aintitcool.com It is Bilbo who finds the entrance to the troll cave, which was a giant rock set out at a sharp angle over the forest floor. A set had been constructed a good 100 feet away, but Peter

One of the most powerful movies I've seen this year, it was Goosebump City on my body the entire time. I know reviews have been brought up on here, but I would recommend not reading anything about it outside of the imdb brief synopsis. Impending doom has never been so beautiful.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes Visit the Dead

Posted: 27 Nov 2011 08:52 AM PST

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes continue to heat up their romance in one of the most dreamy cities in the world... Paris!
gosling-mendes.jpg
The couple went for a romantic stroll through a famous cemetery, Pere-Lachaise -- where Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf and Oscar Wilde were laid to rest, and is known as the City of the Dead. Mendes, 37, has been in Paris filming "Holly Motors." The two have been dating since September and were previously spotted showing some PDA at Disneyland.

Sexy Ryan Gosling Facts

He Grew Up Mormon

Ryan Thomas Gosling spent most of his early childhood in the town of Cornwall in Ontario, Canada. His family was raised Mormon. Gosling once told The Guardian, "We were pretty religious, it was a part of everything-what they ate, how they thought." His parents divorced when he was a child and he was raised mostly by his mother.

Child Star

Ryan first broke into show business on "The Mickey Mouse Club," alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. He was once close friends with Timberlake, and even lived with him during their stay in Florida to tape the Disney kids show.

Focused on Acting

When Gosling was asked by Backstreet Boys singer A.J. McLean to audition for the boy band, Ryan turned him down.

No Canadian Accent Here

At a young age, Ryan thought having a Canadian accent didn't sound "tough enough. I thought guys should sound like Marlon Brando. So now I have a phony accent I can't shake, so it's not phony anymore."

The Peacemaker

After working out at a gym in Manhattan, Ryan was walking home and noticed two men fighting on the street. The bold actor got in between the guys and stopped the fight. The entire ordeal was captured on video and put on YouTube. It has been viewed over a million times.

'Quiet Ryan'

Gosling is quickly becoming known as Hollywood's It Guy, with three hit movies released in 2011, including "Drive," "Crazy Stupid Love," and "The Ides of March." As depicted in "Drive," Ryan often chooses masculine, cool-guy roles that is sometimes light on dialogue. He conveys much of his character's emotions through body language, which prompted a humorous montage created by Funny or Die, called "Quiet Ryan." The creators of the amusing video wrote: "Sometimes saying nothing says so much."Quiet Ryan-watch more funny videos

Rapid-Fire Quiz with Ryan

Ryan sat down with "Extra" in September to talk about "Drive," and took "Extra's" Rapid-Fire Quiz! Did you know he loves Kazoozles candy? He also revealed his favorite chick flick... and it's not "The Notebook"!video platform video management video solutions video player

The Rachel Factor

Starring in one of the most romantic movies of the decade, Ryan was cast with the beautiful Rachel McAdams in 2004's "The Notebook." The two had undeniable chemistry on and off the big screen, with Gosling saying, "I mean, God bless 'The Notebook,' it introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But, people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that."

Dead Man's Bones

Of course Ryan Gosling fans know he can sing, from his days on "The All New Mickey Mouse Club," but the hottie also has his own band, Dead Man's Bones. In addition to his snazzy voice, Gosling also plays the piano and the jazz guitar. Dead Man's Bones released their first music video in Dec. 2008 for their song, "In the Room Where You Sleep." Hey Girl...

Perhaps the funniest tribute to the actor is from a website called, F&%k Yeah! Ryan Gosling, which has photos of Ryan with silly captions that always begin with "Hey Girl." Gosling appeared on MTV promoting "Blue Valentine," and was said he had heard of F&%k Yeah! Ryan Gosling. The reporter handed him a few printouts from the site and asked him to read some of his favorite... see which ones crack him up!Get More: Movie Trailers, Movies Blog

The Tournament of Roses named "Dancing with the Stars" champ J.R. Martinez the grand marshal of its famed New Year's Day parade in Pasadena, Calif.
j.r.-martinez.jpg
The Iraqi war veteran will ride at the front of the 123rd edition of the parade -- which is themed "Just Imagine." "J.R. is not only a courageous and engaging role model for us all but has dedicated himself to helping not only servicemen and servicewomen, but all Americans facing challenges," Tournament President Rick Jackson said in a statement. "His outlook on life is admirable and we couldn't be happier to have the chance to celebrate the New Year with him." Back in 2003, Martinez was seriously burned in an explosion in his Humvee while serving in Iraq. After multiple surgeries and a difficult recovery, J.R. broke into television as Brot Monroe on "All My Children," and danced his way into America's hearts with partner Karina Smirnoff on "DWTS."

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Tony Isabella

Posted: 27 Nov 2011 06:24 AM PST

Before reading this, be sure to check out my retro review of Ghost Rider #9. After I had finished the comic, I wanted to dig deeper into the story and retcon. The way to do that was to get a few words from the writer of the story of course. I managed to get in touch with the writer, Tony Isabella, where I asked a few questions regarding the issue. (And one about the 2007 Ghost Rider film.) 1. You took over Ghost Rider at issue #6, did you have a set plan for the series forward at that point? Not really. Gary Friedrich had left the series somewhat abruptly. Marv Wolfman and Doug Moench did a quick fill-in for issue #5. I was given an issue already pencilled by Jim Mooney from Gary's last plot. That was issue #6. As I recall, I switched around some of

Mike Skinner Retires the Streets: UK Rapper Plays Farewell Show

Earlier this year, British rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner announced he would be retiring the Streets -- the hip-hop project he's masterminded for more than a decade -- after his fifth album, 'Computers and Blues.'

That record dropped in February, and true to his word, Skinner played what is being called the final Streets gig last night (Nov. 26) in Skegness, England.

On a night that also marked the MC's 32nd birthday, Skinner followed his performance by inviting fans onstage for a goodbye drink, toasting a successful run that began with 2002's 'Original Pirate Material' and helped legitimize British hip-hop.
