"I wanted to do a cameo," explains Kirsten. "I had the idea of Tobey and I as extras and we'd just walk by in the background but it's not in there. I love Andrew Garfield and I think Emma Stone (who plays love interest Gwen Stacey) is cute too. I think that they're going to be really cute in the movie for sure. They look like they have good chemistry." Romantic chemistry is a key focal point of the Spider-Man franchise in drawing in audience members that aren't necessarily fans of the old web-head. Posted: 09 Dec 2011 12:10 PM PST Director/writer Angelina Jolie stepped on the red carpet for the L.A. premiere of "In the Land of Blood and Honey" with two important men in her life; dad Jon Voight and, of course, Brad Pitt. Brad spoke exclusively to "Extra's" Jerry Penacoli, revealing he would love for Jolie to direct him in a film, saying he'd work with her "in a second!" When Jerry revealed this to Jolie, the beautiful first-time director gushed, "Well, you know, I'd be extremely lucky to. He's one of my favorite actors! He's so extraordinary, so I'd be lucky, but still shy. I'd be shy to give him direction," adding, "We'll talk about it tonight." The Gangster Squad EW Photo Featuring Josh Brolin and Sean Penn Posted: 09 Dec 2011 09:23 AM PST A new photo from Ruben Fleischer's The Gangster Squad was released in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which offers our first look at co-stars Josh Brolin and Sean Penn. Take a look at the photo, and read what director Ruben Fleischer had to say about his 1940s crime drama, below. The Gangster Squad is based on a series of Los Angeles Times articles from 2008, which chronicle this special unit of the L.A.P.D. that was assembled to eliminated East Coast mobster elements from the City of Angeles in the late 1940s. Here's what director Ruben Fleischer had to say about The Gangster Squad's story. "It's a good leaping-off point. We've taken some creative license but tried to stay true to the original story and characters as much as possible. O'Mara (Josh Brolin), our lead character, has just come back from fighting the Nazis with all these ideals after seeing America at its greatest. And he's come home and there's a gangster running his city. While he was gone, Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) took over and he turned the streets of L.A. into a battle zone. In our story, O'Mara takes the lead of The Gangster Squad, a vigilante police force that fights the gangsters on their own terms, and the battle between them is for the future of Los Angeles: whether it's going to become corrupt and run by this bunch of gangsters or these guys who fought for these values and want L.A. to be the shining beacon on the west coast that it was always intended to be." Ruben Fleischer has been shooting The Gangster Squad all over Los Angeles, and the filmmaker also discussed recreating 1940s L.A. "These places don't exist anymore. We had to take blocks of streets and build period storefronts and recreate clubs that have been closed for years. The past two nights, we had a full tommy-gun battle inside the Chinese Theater with gangsters lighting off 50 rounds a minute. And then tonight and the next night, it's going to bleed out onto Hollywood Boulevard as our Gangster Squad retreats. We're going to have a full battle on one of the most famous streets in L.A. And staging a scene at the Griffith Park Observatory is just iconic because you instantly think of Rebel Without a Cause and all the great movies that have filmed there. On Monday, we were on the steps of City Hall with Nick Nolte. It's like going in a time machine when you go to the set." The filmmaker also elaborated more on the photo above, which appears to feature Sean Penn's Mickey Cohen surrendering to Josh Brolin's O'Mara. "Ultimately it's the story between these two guys. It's Josh and Sean who face off at the end after a big gun battle between The Gangster Squad and Cohen and his men. O'Mara catches up to Cohen and Sean mockingly says, 'Okay, copper, take me in.' The Dark Knight Rises Operation Early Bird Revealed! Posted: 09 Dec 2011 10:33 AM PST On Wednesday, Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan kicked off their The Dark Knight Rises viral campaign with a fake CIA "bulletin" for a missing Russian scientist named Leonid Pavel (Alon Aboutboul). A second CIA "document" reveals a redacted transcript, which also relates to the "missing" Dr. Pavel. Then on Thursday, a third document centering on Alon Aboutboul's character, Dr. Leonid Pavel, was revealed, along with the website OperationEarlyBird.com, which contained a clock counting down to 10:00 am this Friday morning. This was all believed to be leading up to "a major cultural event." It has been confirmed that Alon Aboutboul's Leonid Pavel is a central character in The Dark Knight Rises prologue, which will be in IMAX theaters staring December 16th, attached to IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol. And now, the clock has ticked to zero. What does it reveal? A map with various different coordinates, leading to various cities across the United States, letting fans know when and where they can see The Dark Knight Rises prologue early. As The Insider reports, her latest coup comes courtesy of iTunes and Billboard, whose album and singles charts she led with '21' and 'Rolling in the Deep,' respectively. Making it even clearer that 2011 is the year Adele will not be denied, both iTunes and Billboard named her Artist of the Year. The singer, who has been rendered temporarily mute while convalescing from throat surgery, has cancelled all touring engagements for the remainder of the year. "I'm thrilled to top the iTunes album and song charts for 2011 and to be iTunes Artist of the Year is just amazing," she said in a statement.
