Influenced by Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young, he toured with Holliday in the '50s and joined Davis' band when he moved to New York in 1964. That year, he performed on the live album, 'Miles in Tokyo,' and released his first solo album, the highly regarded 'Fuchsia Swing Song,' on Blue Note. |

| Lindsay Lohan Declines New Year's Hosting Gigs Posted: 27 Dec 2011 10:13 AM PST Actress Lindsay Lohan will stay very low key for New Year's Eve, reportedly turning down several high-paying offers to host parties to ring in 2012.  Sources close to LiLo told TMZ said she was making an effort to stick to her court-appointed regimen and turn around her party girl image. Lohan is opting to spend New Year's Eve at home with just a few close friends, perhaps going out to dinner beforehand. Michael Lohan spoke with "Extra's" Jerry Penacoli, praising his daughter's progress. "In the frame of mind that she is now, she's getting back to the top of her game." |

| Van Halen Tour in 2012 Is Confirmed Posted: 26 Dec 2011 11:30 AM PST Van Halen has just confirmed that they'll be touring in 2012. The legendary hard rockers revealed the news this morning via a video on their official site. It will be the first time Van Halen has toured together in five years. Although the exact dates have yet to be announced, the first batch of shows will go on sale on Jan. 10. The footage featured in the tour's video teaser (seen below) was shot at The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. last month. Van Halen currently features David Lee Roth (vocals), brothers Eddie (guitars) and Alex Van Halen (drums), along with Eddie's 20-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen on bass. Van Halen recently inked a deal with Interscope Records and will issue their 12th studio album with the label in 2012. No firm release date has been confirmed yet. It will be Roth's first album with the Southern California rockers since their landmark '1984' collection. |
| Posted: 27 Dec 2011 08:48 AM PST I'll start by saying that although I love this movie, I am not one of these people that believes it is the be all and end all, or that it is infallible. What Nolan and co do right renders what they do wrong pretty insignificant imo, but that doesn't mean the movie doesn't have it's share of problems - nor that I won't be discussing them. I won't, however, be going into the actual plot in too much detail as I'm fairly certain we all know the story. I'm also not going to be discussing the differences between the movie and the comics, how faithful it is etc. These things vary in how annoyed they make people, if they even bother em at all so I feel it's something best debated in the comments section. Rumors first began when Paltrow was spotted on the New Mexico set. No official confirmation was given from Marvel Studios but a recent report from an Indian Newspaper stating that actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone would be providing voice-over talents for Paltrow (Pepper Potts) and Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), respectively. Now, we have even stronger confirmation from one of the stars of the film, Tom Hiddleston. When asked to quickly respond with 1-word answers to describe each of his Avengers co-stars, the good people over at Just Jared slipped in Paltrow's name and Hiddleston comically described her as "Mister". A supposedly leaked cover of People magazine's January 7, 2012, issue outing Taylor Lautner is a complete fraud, according to Gossip Cop.  The cover, which features the "Twilight" hunk "out and proud," is "absolutely fake," a rep for the magazine told Gossip Cop. The viral cover fooled a few celebrities, however, like Russell Simmons, who initially tweeted he was "proud of Taylor Lautner for his bravery and his courage." When Simmons found out it was a hoax, he wrote he was "disappointed that people would joke about someone coming out about their sexuality. Let Taylor Lautner be whoever he wants to be..." Lautner, 19, is no stranger to rumors, but he tries not to pay any attention to it. In November, he told Parade magazine, "It's definitely impossible to avoid stuff about me sometimes, but it's pretty important to try. It's very rare that things are true about yourself that are on the Internet. It's just sad sometimes. So you definitely want to stay away from it as much as possible." |
| Pearl Jam Replace Late Fan's Autographed Guitar After It Was Stolen Posted: 27 Dec 2011 12:50 PM PST Filed under: News In 1992, the band gave 17-year-old fan Josh Hardy a signed Fender guitar while he was dying of brain cancer. After he passed away, the guitar went to his younger brother, Ben, who's now 34. According to the Boston Herald, Ben was devastated earlier this month when the guitar was stolen from his home in Burlington, Vt. The axe was returned soon after, but all the autographs were scrubbed away in an effort to make the guitar unrecognizable. |

Welch also arrived at the event in style, hopping off a double-decker bus for the 9AM concert, the first time a rock group played the annual sale.
