Cut Copy Bassist Ben Browning's Favorite '80s Songs -- Count Five Posted: 29 Dec 2011 02:00 PM PST Filed under: Exclusive, Count Five, RPM Redferns We quizzed Cut Copy bassist Ben Browning about the band's biggest '80's influences, and gathered the following jams. 1. 'Man With a Gun,' Jerry Harrison "I only discovered this song recently. Writer Bret Easton Ellis was programming a music video show in Australia and he was playing some pretty crappy music and then he put this on. It's such an intense song and the video is great. This track came out in the late '80's after the demise of his band Talking Heads." |

Sinead O'Connor on Why 16-Day Marriage Dissolved Posted: 29 Dec 2011 09:59 AM PST Singer Sinead O'Connor reveals why her 16-day marriage to Barry Herridge didn't last. "It felt like I was living in a coffin," she told Britain's Sun tabloid. "It was going to be a coffin for both of us, and I saw him crushed. The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man," adding, "I don't think I will even date anyone." The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer, 45, and Herridge, 38, tied the knot in a well-planned December 8 drive-through wedding in Las Vegas. Now, O'Connor admitted to the Sun that she went on a frantic hunt for pot on their wedding night. "We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous," O'Connor said. "I wasn't scared - but he's a drugs counselor. What was I thinking?" She continued, "Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened - that kind of messed everything up a bit, really." O'Connor has struggled with depression and revealed she has bipolar disorder. |

FEATURE: The Ten Best Comic Book Movie Moments Of 2011 Posted: 29 Dec 2011 08:32 AM PST It's been a great year for comic book movies (well, mostly!) and here are my top ten moments from those released this past year. I'm sure you all have your own opinions on these and many others, so please feel free to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place. 10. The Green Hornet - Gangster's Paradise While not everyone enjoyed Michel Gondry's take on The Green Hornet, the scene between Seth Rogen (Green Hornet) and Jay Chou (Kato) in which the duo sing along to Coolio's "Gangster's Paradise" while taking the Black Beauty out for the first time is what Rogen quite rightly describes in the film as "so wicked". 9. Captain America: The First Avenger - "We Had A Date" There was plenty of action to be found in Captain America, but this quiet ending to the blockbuster strikes more of a chord than all of those combined. The relationship between |

Thanks to Quiet Earth, we now have the official synopsis and some first concept art for the film. Check it out below: Set in a future in which robots are as ubiquitous as pets are today. And if you don't make your robot loan payments, your mechanical best friend will be repossessed by people like Lee, a repo agent who refuses to see robots as sentient individuals and has built up large debts betting on robo-races. Lee's latest repo job takes him to the doorstep of Mike and Max, the former a man who has lost everything in a tragedy, and the latter an adorable companion robot who would |

Best "under the radar" movies of 2011? Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:51 AM PST I'm talking about stuff that was STV, had a limited release (in the US), dropped out of theaters quickly, etc. I haven't seen that many, but I'll start things off with Attack The Block. [link] [32 comments] |
Is there an actor you normally love but were shamed by a particular role they did? Posted: 29 Dec 2011 08:15 AM PST For me it's got to be Brad Pitt. It's almost a given that i'll love any movie he does, EXCEPT for the fact that he did that god awful Burn After Reading. Just terrible. [link] [17 comments] |
Saw Hodejegerne (Headhunters) last night, a Norwegian movie with a Hollywood remake already planned. Posted: 29 Dec 2011 08:20 AM PST Found it to be a very entertaining thriller with smart dark humor. It had good pacing and a very unpredictable but engaging plot. [link] [comment] |

Peter Frampton Sues A&M Records Over Digital Royalties Posted: 29 Dec 2011 12:30 PM PST Filed under: News Chris Polk/FilmMagic Rolling Stone reports that Frampton has since hired big-time music attorney Richard Busch, who helped obtain past royalties for rapper Eminem. The Detroit MC's case against his label is "virtually identical" to Frampton's, and is considered a model for today's digital industry. Classic rock pioneers are continuously finding themselves in legal grey areas with their labels as the music business ventures further into the future. Bruce Gary of the Knack's estate is suing his major label while the Village People's Victor Willis has teamed with the Songwriters Guild of America to regain control of their intellectual property. |
