Is This The First Look at GODZILLA?

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 11:34 AM PDT

Last time Godzilla got the Hollywood treatment was in 1998 when Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) and SONY created a film that hardly resembled anything that fans were accustomed to. The star, Godzilla looked nothing like he usually does. Is as though they took the name Godzilla and slapped a Jurassic Park look to the film. As for the reboot that Legendary Pictures is working on, infamouskidd's source is reporting that creature sculptor, Hector Arce's design of Godzilla is the blueprint. Even more exciting is that Legendary is rumored to be going with a rubber suited Godzilla instead of all CGI creation. How great is that? Our source in the know on the new look of Godzilla sent us off in the direction of Hector A. Arce, a creature/fantasy sculptor, who we've been told is part of the design team for Legendary's film, primarily because this version of Godzilla is based on a

Up All Night and Whitney Get Full-Season Orders on NBC

Up All Night and Whitney get full-season orders from NBC

NBC has handed out full-season orders for the new comedy series Up All Night and Whitney. The network has also canceled the Monday night drama The Playboy Club due to low ratings. The show will be replaced by the news program Rock Center with Brian Williams, which premieres on October 31. Take a look at the full press release below announcing the full-season pickups for Up All Night and Whitney.

NBC has picked up the new comedies Up All Night and Whitney for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, it was announced today by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.

"We made comedy an important goal for us this season and I'm very pleased to be making full-season commitments to both Whitney and Up All Night," said Greenblatt. "We're thrilled with the creative direction of both shows as well as the potential for them to continue to build loyal audiences over the coming months. We're proud of all of the producers, writers, actors, and directors who have worked so hard to bring these shows to life."

Up All Night created by Emmy Award nominee Emily Spivey (NBC's Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live) and executive-produced by multi-Emmy winner Lorne Michaels (NBC's Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock), is an irreverent look at modern parenthood.

Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?) stars as Reagan Brinkley: loving wife, successful career woman, life of the party and, most recently, mom. Determined not to compromise her career or cool reputation to the clich&#233s of motherhood, Reagan adjusts to life with a baby and returns to work with the support of her stay-at-home husband, Chris (Will Arnett, Arrested Development).

As Reagan and Chris figure out their new life, self-doubt, sleep deprivation and the pressure of today's parenting protocols rattle their confidence. What's more, the endless needs of Reagan's boss, ambitious but vulnerable talk-show host Ava (Maya Rudolph, Saturday Night Live, Bridesmaids), threaten to throw Reagan off balance.

Up All Night is a Broadway Video and Universal Television production. Along with Michaels and Spivey, Jon Pollack (30 Rock) and Erin David (Saturday Night Live) serve as executive producers. Christina Applegate, Eric Kranzler and Andrew Singer are producers.

Said Entertainment Weekly: "The season's most charming yet frenetic new sitcom..." It is listed under "5 Best New Shows."

NBC's new multi-camera comedy Whitney is a hilarious look at modern-day love, which centers around Whitney (Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Lately) and Alex (Chris D'Elia, Glory Daze), a happily unmarried couple. Together for three years, the duo is in no rush to get hitched, which seems to get a mixed response from their friends.

Said Newsday:"...it's refreshingly authentic, and distinctively Whitney, with her new-generation perspective and brisk verbal rhythms."

Whitney's close circle of girlfriends includes on one side: Lily (Zoe Lister Jones, The Other Guys), a romantic idealist who loves being in love, and on the other: Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn, The Starter Wife), a recent divorcee who is practical, cynical, and dreading being single again. Lily and Roxanne's opposing points of view only exacerbate Whitney's own complicated outlook on relationships.

Completing their close-knit group is Neal (Maulik Pancholy, NBC's 30 Rock), a real modern day Renaissance man - sensitive, cool and knows a little bit about everything and happens to be dating Lily. On the other end of the spectrum is Whitney and Alex's next-door neighbor Mark (Daniel G. O'Brien, How I Met Your Mother), a police officer and total bachelor, who claims to be the ultimate player, but likes to talk a good game.

At the end of the day, Whitney and Alex try to have a relationship on their own terms - in a world that expects a more traditional approach.

Whitney is produced by Universal Television in association with Stuber Pictures. Scott Stuber (The Break-Up), Quan Phung, My Boys (My Boys) and Barry Katz (Last Comic Standing) are executive producers along with Cummings and executive producer/writer Andy Ackerman (Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine), who directed the pilot.

Conrad Murray on His Defense Team: 'They're Doing a Good Job'

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 11:28 AM PDT

Although he's on trial for involuntary manslaughter, it seems as though Dr. Conrad Murray is living his life as normally as possible, going for a pedicure this past weekend and even squeezing in a late-night workout on Monday.

Murray, who was bombarded by paparazzi after exiting the gym, spoke out about his defense team when someone asked, "You think they're doing a good job?" The doc replied, "I think so."

The Houston-based physician answered a few more questions, including, "What kind of response do you get from the public... just from people?" Murray answered, "Generally good."

Dr. Conrad Murray Nails It After Trying Week

Now in the second week of the Michael Jackson trial, Murray's former girlfriends, Nicole Alvarez and Sade Anding are expected to take the stand Tuesday. The prosecution claims Murray had phone conversations with the women on the day of Jackson's death.

According to ABC News, MJ's fingerprints were not on the propofol bottles found in the pop star's bedroom. This discovery contradicts the defense theory that Michael self-administered a lethal dose of the prescription drug and the sedative lorazepam without Murray's knowledge.

If convicted, Murray faces up to four years in prison and could lose his medical license. The trial resumes today.

Here is the snap from the pages of The Irish Mirror. Apologies for the quality, I didn't have a scanner so these are just snapped with my trusty camera. Honestly the pic isn't that great anyway, hardly any quality is lost here. It's not a proper look, but just going on what we can make out from the pic what is the verdict? Thanks to Theomenus for the heads up. By TwitterButtons.com <hr

The Mekons Look to Edwardian-Era Britain On Latest Album 'Ancient and Modern'

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 02:00 PM PDT

MekonsFrancesca Allen

In British history, the Edwardian era (1901-1919) was characterized by imperialism, wealth and contrasts between the affluent and the impoverished. For the Mekons, the era serves a reference point for their 26th and latest album, 'Ancient and Modern.' While a lot has changed since 1911, history repeats itself as far as politics and society are concerned.

"The idea behind it was that, in a lot of way, things aren't that different if you look at a hundred years ago and now," longtime singer Sally Timms tells Spinner, describing the new album. "There are plenty of similarities in what was going on then -- the Edwardian period was definitely similar to what was happening."

As founding Mekons singer and guitarist Jon Langford puts it, there was a shallowness and complacency in English society leading up to World War I.

"I think the shadow of the First World War seems huge to me now because there's no one left who fought in that war," he says. "Family members of mine fought and died in that war. When you got the current crop of political leaders -- who seem to have no connection to reality at all [and] people's lives whatsoever -- running the world, it's really important to remember these terrible events."

'DWTS': Dancers Dedicate Performances, Date Night for Cox and Arquette

Posted: 04 Oct 2011 11:26 AM PDT

In week three of "Dancing with the Stars," contestants shared personal memories and dedicated their performances to those closest to them.

Iraq war veteran J.R. Martinez had the house in tears when he said he was dancing for the men and women who didn't make it back from Iraq -- and received a standing ovation after the performance. Watch!

Backstage, Martinez told "Extra's" Renee Bargh that he and Karina Smirnoff were both emotional. "She saw me choked up then she was choked up!"

Rob Kardashian dedicated his performance to his dad, O.J. Simpson friend and attorney Robert Kardashian, who died of esophageal cancer when the younger Kardashian was only 15. "That's a portrait of my dad. It's awesome," Rob told Bargh. Mom Kris Jenner and big sister Kim were in the audience, showing support. Rob said, "I'm sure [Kim] was very emotional."

Chaz Bono also danced for his dad, Sonny Bono, who died in a skiing accident in 1998. His mom, Cher, tweeted Monday that if Chaz makes it through round three, she'll show up next week to cheer her son on in person. Bono confirmed, "If we're still here, she'll be here."

Carson Kressley added a little humor to the emotional evening, joking with Renee about judge Len Goodman's comment to Carson that he puts the "boy in flamboyant." Kressley quipped, "Newsflash! I've been putting the boy in flamboyant for a long time. Did he not see the picture of me with my purse in the third grade?"

Later that night, David Arquette and Courteney Cox were seen having dinner together. Cox told the paparazzi, "I'm so proud. He's so good!"

Find out who will be eliminated from "Dancing with the Stars," Tuesday on ABC!
