How do you introduce a film at a film festival? Posted: 25 Oct 2011 10:10 AM PDT OK, so I'm up for an internship at a film festival and they want the people up for the internship to "audition" for it. Basically, I have to introduce a movie to them as I would introduce that movie to the audience if it was shown in the festival. I have never been to a film festival unfortunately, and I have no clue how to go about doing this. I would appreciate if I could get some pointers on doing this. Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this. [link] [2 comments] |

Guess the movie title using the first frame as a clue. Idea credit goes to RozCheck Posted: 25 Oct 2011 08:31 AM PDT I took some liberties on the exact time I took the screencaps in order to make them easier or harder depending on the movie. Some are obvious, some are hard and some may be impossible. I mixed them up quite a bit, so it may be hard to get the answers of all one set. There are 121 movies, 1970's to the present. Many are/were mainstream movies, some are a bit more obscure. If this submission gets any attention I will post the answers here as spoiler text. EDIT: I made a small mistake. #51 and #55 are the same movie. Set 1 Answers:

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 09:24 AM PDT I loved it. I mean I know it's gotten fairly mixed reviews but I would have to say it is a really great film. I thought the acting was phenomenal, especially Michael Parks' work as Cooper, as well as Melissa Leo, and the three kids did a very good job. The plot was very well structured, had a very Tarantino-esque feeling to it. It also had its fair share of "Oh Shit" moments, which is always good in a thriller. Overall, I really enjoyed it, it's thought provoking, entertaining, and it has John Goodman in it dammit. An excellent thriller from comedic mind Kevin Smith. Anyone else seen it? Thoughts? Black Keys Call Out Black Eyed Peas, MTV After VMA Award Mix-Up Posted: 25 Oct 2011 02:24 PM PDT The MTV VMA awards usually entertain the prospect of controversy, crazy "I'mma'let you finish" interruptions and political folly, but last year's show's wackiest moment wasn't even broadcast. In a recent interview with GQ, Ohio bluesmen the Black Keys tell of a clerical error for the ages. "We were on tour and our manager sent us a picture of the award [laughs] and the plaque read, you know, "The Black Eyed Peas -- 'Tighten Up.' Breakthrough Video." I was just like, Wow. A channel that's never respected us or played us to f--- us like that? [laughs] It's kind of awesome," frontman Dan Auerbach told the magazine. |
First Look at the Thundercats' Berbils Posted: 25 Oct 2011 11:01 AM PDT This Friday's episode of Thundercats will have a village full of robot bears that have a knack for building. But all is not well as the Berbils seek the help of the Thundercats to protect them slave traders that want to exploit their construction skills. Fans of the original ThunderCats series will recognize the Berbils immediately. "When deciding to bring the Berbils back we agreed to not change their design or personality too much as they were some of the most memorable characters in the original ThunderCats universe," producer Ethan Spaulding tells TVGuide.com. "The appeal of the Ro-Bear Berbils is their unassuming look -- cute, furry, robotic teddy bears -- and their robotic voices. They look cute but are actually great builders and help the ThunderCats in many ways." - TV GUIDE |

Steve Jobs Biopic Wants Writer Aaron Sorkin Posted: 25 Oct 2011 10:48 AM PDT Just days after the untimely October 5th death of Apple founder and Chairman Steve Jobs, Sony Pictures acquired the rights to his self-titled, authorized biography Steve Jobs, from author Walter Isaacson. Today, it has been revealed that Sony is actively seeking Aaron Sorkin to write the screenplay for this upcoming adaptation. Sony thinks that Aaron Sorkin would be a good fit for the material, as he successfully adapted their The Social Network, about another digital age pioneer, into a hit film, both critically praised and worthy of an Oscar. At this time, Aaron Sorkin, who just found recent acclaimed with his adapted screenplay for Moneyball, is said to be mulling over the idea of turning Steve Jobs' biography into a feature film. But he has not committed to the project yet. Some believe that Aaron Sorkin may actually pass on the job for a few reasons. One: It adheres a little too closely to the story of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, and he may not want to travel that road again. Two: He personally knew Steve Jobs, and it may be too soon for a biopic on someone that so recently passed away. It is also a noted fact that Steve Jobs once asked Aaron Sorkin to write a Pixar film, to which the scribe replied, "I can't make inanimate objects talk." In actuality, he was afraid of disappointing his daughter with the first bad Pixar movie. Steve Jobs certainly isn't an inanimate object, and the odds are good that Aaron Sorkin will tackle this script in honor of his late friend. While Sony has Aaron Sorkin at the top of their most wanted list for the Steve Jobs biopic, they are also currently seeking out other high profile screenplay writers in case he does say no. Steve Jobs comes to theaters in 2013. |
