UPDATE: John Stahl Joins Cast Of Game Of Thrones Season 2, Rose Leslie Discusses Her Role

Posted: 13 Oct 2011 09:08 AM PDT

Game Of Thrones author George R.R Martin is fond of posting clues leading up to casting announcements for the show. And the guys at Westeros.org figured out that his latest batch led to actor John Stahl joining season 2 and that has now been confirmed. The character he will be playing remains a mystery. There really aren't that many important charters left but the clues point to Lord Rickard Karstark. There are also those that think he could be Quorin Halfhand, who does play a big role in the events of the second book in the series. Anyway, we will update as soon as we know for sure. UPDATE: Martin has now confirmed that Stahl is indeed playing Rickard Karstark. The character doesn't have too big a role in the second book but apparently he will in the show. Martin also revealed that all of the major roles have now been cast. Another

A shrinking Ricki Lake proudly told "Extra's" Mario Lopez, "I'm gonna share clothes with Brooke Burke by the end of this! That's a good goal to set."

The "Dancing with the Stars" contestant spoke realistically about her weight loss, saying, "I'm not gonna end up with that six pack that you have at the end. I'm 43 years old." Lake gushed, "I am wearing a size 28 Paige Jeans. Jeans don't lie, and I am just happy!"

The former talk show host, who is engaged to jewelry designer Christian Evans, scored a season best, earning a perfect 10 points on her last performance. When Mario asked if Evans is a good dancer, Ricki thoughtfully replied, "He has rhythm... he definitely has rhythm, and he has rhythm horizontally too!"

Lake said she will dance the Fox Trot next week, saying, "It's sort of like, waltzy."

Will Ricki get another perfect 10? Tune in to "Dancing with the Stars" on Monday to find out!

EXCLUSIVE: Ioan Gruffudd Talks Ringer

Posted: 13 Oct 2011 10:18 AM PDT

Ioan Gruffudd discusses his work on Ringer

I recently spoke with actor Ioan Gruffudd about his new movie Fireflies in the Garden, which hits theaters October 14. We also talked about his role on the CW series Ringer, where he plays Andrew Martin, the husband of Sarah Michelle Gellar's Siobahn. When I asked him to drop a few teasers about upcoming episodes, he ended up discussing the format of the show, and how it promotes appointment viewing every week.

"(Laughs) Teasers. You know, it's funny, whenever there is a show I watch, being able to tune in like that is a treat, when you make that appointment. That's what it's all about, and I know people love spoilers, but it's discovering at the same time as everybody else, what I love about serialized dramas. In our case, because we're weaving all of these intricate stories, it's a bit like Damages, I suppose. We're trying to answer these questions we've posed in the pilot and, of course, in answering them, you pose four new questions (Laughs). It's really quite impressive. We're not pretending we're doing Breaking Bad or Damages. We are doing a CW, film-noir-esque soap opera. We're not pretending otherwise, and we're having a lot of fun doing it."

He also talked about working with Sarah Michelle Gellar, and her presence as both the leading actor and producer on Ringer.

"It's amazing, you forget what a powerhouse she is. To have that success, you'd have to compare it to someone on Friends, how recognizable a figure she is, globally. It's really impressive, but more than that, she's an impressive person as well. We both have a lot in common. I have a two-year-old daughter and she has a two-year-old daughter, so we have that in common. She's also an incredible producer at the same time, along with being the leading lady of the show. To feel and sense, during a take even, we'll call cut and she'll go, 'You know, that's not working. We need to change the blocking or change this line.' She has the ability, through all her experience on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, to monitor everything that's going on while she's living it in the moment. It's very impressive and I'm very pleased to be playing her husband."

EXCLUSIVE: Ioan Gruffudd Talks Fireflies in the Garden

Ioan Gruffudd discusses Fireflies in the Garden

Actor Ioan Gruffudd talks Fireflies in the Garden, working with Ryan Reynolds, Ringer, and much more.

Ioan Gruffudd has certainly had an intriguing career, from a small role in Titanic, to the Horatio Hornblower series in the U.K., to Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four. The actor can currently be seen every Tuesday night on the small screen in CW's Ringer, and he also makes his return to the big screen in Fireflies in the Garden, which hits theaters October 14. I recently had the chance to speak with Ioan Gruffudd over the phone about Fireflies in the Garden, and here's what he had to say.

Can you talk a bit about your initial reaction to the script and what you thought of the character?

Ioan Gruffudd: When I read this script, I was bummed out that I came to it so late, and I wasn't able to go up for the part that Ryan (Reynolds) plays. It's such a fantastic, meaty role, but honestly thrilled to be a part of it at all, because it's such a beautiful script, with these beautiful characters going through this terrible pain and anguish. We all can relate, on some level, to the family stuff and how difficult that can be. I was just proud to be a part of it, to play Julia Roberts' lover, even though we never see that relationship on screen.

This is (writer-director) Dennis Lee's first film. Can you talk a bit about working with him?

Ioan Gruffudd: What's lovely about him is, this is based on his personal account, and when you have a director who has written such a beautiful and eloquent script, quite often, you get a bit of magic in their first attempt. That's what we have here. He has this incredible cast of people in all matter of tiny little roles, myself included. We all responded to the material. With Julia coming on board and being such a champion of it, that validated those decisions. The finished product is really, really beautiful. In my experience, I did another movie with a first-time feature director, he had done a documentary before. That also turned out beautiful and that was called Solomon and Gaenor that I did years ago, which was nominated for Best Foriegn Film back in the day. These movies often can be touched by a little bit of magic.

I talked to Dennis last week, and we spoke about the different versions of this movie, the various run times it went through three or four years ago. Can you talk about those variations? Did you have more screen time in these other versions?

Ioan Gruffudd: To be honest, I am going to see it myself, this latest version. I heard that this has been happening. I certainly saw a very basic rough cut, which was very, very long, too long, really, for it to be a movie, but it was a rough assembly. I can't imagine that I have been cut out that much. What you see on the screen is what I actually shot. It was a very quick cameo. I was there one or two days, so so I'm sure what I did is up there on the screen. I'm sure it's vastly improved from what I saw, which wasn't even a finished movie when I saw it. I had heard that they went back in and re-edited it over the years. I think we all loved it so much, we wanted to get it right, and Dennis wanted to get it right, and get it into the right hands.

He said that he was actually glad that it took so long, because they feel this version is right, and they might not have had the chance to perfect it before.

Ioan Gruffudd: I don't want to speak out of turn, but I'm imagining if you shot the movie and put it together and the response isn't as strong as you hoped, especially because when we were shooting it, there was such a strong response from us all, that says a lot about Dennis himself, that he's able to hold onto it. To put it in the hands of another editor or whatever happened in this situation, and allow it to find its true form. That must be quite tough.

Most of your scenes are with Ryan (Reynolds), and we haven't seen him in dramatic fare like this for some time. Can you talk about your time on the set with him, and what you took away from working with him?

Ioan Gruffudd: Of course, Ryan we all know and love from all of his comedies, and he has this incredible quality of a handsome and very buff leading man, which got him Green Lantern. He's a bona fide movie star, and we all knew he had that potential. The genres of movies he was in, maybe wasn't allowing him to go to those places where he is now at. This was one of those experiences for him. He was doing a lot of those comedies and this came his way, and he's proven himself to be a fantastic dramatic actor as well.

You're working on Ringer right now. Can you talk about your experiences shooting that, or maybe some teasers for upcoming episodes?

Ioan Gruffudd: (Laughs) Teasers. We're not pretending otherwise, and we're having a lot of fun doing it.

Is there anything you can say about working with Sarah Michelle Gellar in general?

Ioan Gruffudd: It's amazing, you forget what a powerhouse she is. It's very impressive and I'm very pleased to be playing her husband.

Finally, what would you like to say to anyone who is curious about Fireflies in the Garden, about why they should check it out in theaters October 14?

Ioan Gruffudd: I think, if you're fans of all the comic book superhero movies, you're going to see about four or five people from that world in this movie (Laughs). You've got Mr. Fantastic, Green Lantern, Green Goblin, Hayden Panettiere who was in Heroes and even Carrie-Anne Moss from The Matrix. If we can get those people to watch because of the cast, I think they'll be enlightened as well, because it's a beautiful movie about family and the difficulties and intricacies of those relationships.

Excellent. That's about all I have. Thanks so much for talking to me. It was a pleasure.

Ioan Gruffudd: My pleasure, my pleasure. It was nice to chat with you too.

You can watch Ioan Gruffudd in Fireflies in the Garden when it debuts in theaters October 14.

Actor Kelsey Grammer sat down with CNN host Piers Morgan for a revealing interview, discussing his political views, and opening up about his very public split with "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Camille Grammer.

Morgan asked the TV star (who married British TV personality Kayte Walsh earlier this year) about the most hurtful thing his ex-wife said to him. "The thing that she said that hurt me the most -- that I think that hurt both Kayte and me -- was the thing about the child we lost, and something about it being karma. That was disgusting."

Grammer is currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle over his children with Camille -- daughter Mason, 9 and son Jude, 7.

Kelsey, who is starring in the new political drama series "Boss," also spoke about his views on the Tea Party. Watch the preview clip!

First Review For The Adventures Of Tintin Hits

Posted: 13 Oct 2011 09:57 AM PDT

Total Film's review isn't that long so I have posted most of it below. If you don't fancy reading it, basically in a nutshell they thought it was good. But no more, giving the movie 3 stars. It's a standard cop-out rating that I always try to avoid giving myself, but sometimes a movie is just a 3 star movie and that's that. Anyway, they begin by comparing Tintin to what is widely regarded as Stephen Spielberg's biggest flop, 1941. Before he died in 1983, Tintin creator Hergé pegged Steven Spielberg as the director worthiest of adapting his work. You can see how the Belgian writer/artist would've pictured it: the cliffhanging kicks of Indiana Jones sweetened with the winsome wonder of Close Encounters/E.T. He probably didn't hope for a replay of 1941's knockabout chaos. No, Spielberg's latest isn't down there with his biggest bomb. But there are times when its

Alex Rocco Talks Carmine Falcone in Batman: Year One

Posted: 13 Oct 2011 09:59 AM PDT

Alex Rocco voices Carmine Falcone in Batman: Year One

Alex Rocco, best known for his role as gangster Moe Greene in The Godfather, returns to his mobster roots as Carmine Falcone in Batman: Year One, the next entry in the popular, ongoing series of DC Universe Animated Original Movies.

The appearance in a Dark Knight-related project brings Alex Rocco's 44-year career full circle. The Massachusetts-born actor, who was once an adjunct member of Boston's Winter Hill Gang, got his first on-screen role in the 1960s Batman television series.

Alex Rocco appeared as the thug Block in the back-to-back episodes "A Piece of the Action" and "Batman's Satisfaction," which premiered on March 1 and 2, 1967. The episodes also featured the first true crossover appearance The Green Hornet and Kato on the Batman series (aside from a cameo popping out a window in the first season).

Since then, Rocco has been seen on primetime in everything from Get Smart, The F.B.I. and Kojak to The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Rockford Files and Baretta. He has had recurring roles on The Facts of Life, The Famous Teddy Z, Sibs, The George Carlin Show and The Division. His voice is easily recognized as Roger Myers Jr., the head of Itchy & Scratchy Studios on The Simpsons.

In feature films, Rocco's most notable roles include Moe Greene (and his gruesome demise) in The Godfather, the comically curious police chief in The Stunt Man, and as over-the-top Sol Siler, the head of Playtone Records in That Thing You Do! Least we not forget his greatest role of all time as Gus Keller, Corey Feldman's dad in the greatest body-swap movie of all times: Dream a Little Dream!

Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, the all-new, PG-13 rated Batman: Year One arrives October 18, 2011 from Warner Home Video as a Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD, On Demand and for Download. Batman: Year One is now also be available in a special download-for-purchase early window (starting October 11) through iTunes, Xbox Live, Zune, VUDU HD Movies and Video Unlimited on the PlayStation Network & Sony Entertainment Network.

Executive producer Bruce W. Timm and casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano will be at New York Comic Con to discuss Batman: Year One during a panel on Friday, October 14 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the IGN Theater. They are joined by Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman in the upcoming Justice League: Doom.

Alex Rocco, an agreeable and funny man in person, spent a few extra minutes after his initial recording session to chat about mob bosses, Burt Ward's whining, Julie Newmar's sex appeal, and how to get ahead in Hollywood when your bartending partner takes a bathroom break. Take note ... Moe Greene, er, Alex Rocco is speaking.

You're no stranger to gangsters. How did you choose to interpret Falcone?

Alex Rocco: I always seem to play everybody's dad or the gangster. So Falcone to me was like one of the five families from New York, maybe Vito Genovese, somebody like that. He takes his food very seriously, his drink very seriously, his women very seriously. The bottom line is he's a scumbag, but he thinks he has a lot of class, so I tried to incorporate that. It's fun playing gangsters. Where else can you say, "Get up against the wall, I'm gonna blow your head away." Well, where else can you say that and not get arrested? I really love playing gangsters.

So you really don't mind being typecast as a gangster?

Alex Rocco: :Not at all. Whatever pays, that's great. I like comedy and I like gangsters. I always had trouble with love scenes. I'm so insecure. But playing gangsters is great. They usually dress you sharp. And you have a license to pretty much bully anybody. I mean, I wouldn't dare do that at home. My wife will give me a back hander. So doing it at work is a great release - it saves you all that money at the shrink.

Is it true you had some real-life experience with gangsters and the mob back in your young days in Boston?

Alex Rocco: I come from a place called Winter Hill, and I was kind of a wannabe gangster. I started off running errands for the guys that were always dressed nice in the long collars with their initials. They called me Bobo, and it was always "Bobo, go get me a milkshake" or "Go grab me the newspaper," and they'd throw me a few bucks. Plus I learned a lot from the gangsters. Things like you never look at another guy's wife, always leave a good tip, never eat meat on Friday ... but you can kill all during the week.

Did your mob experience help you in the entertainment business?

Alex Rocco: I tried to use that street energy to get started in this business. A lot of actors just wait for the phone to ring, but you've got to hustle. I don't mean you have to be overbearing, but you have to stay on top of things - read the trades, know what's going on in the town. I call it "dare to be stupid." The worst thing they can say is "We got nothing for you." So I've hustled a lot in the 44 years I've been doing this.

How did hustling get you that first gig on the Batman television series?

Alex Rocco: I'd worked at the Rain Check Room - an actor's hangout - for a while. You'd see people in there like Robert Vaughn, Shelley Winters and Rock Hudson, who used to comb his hair the other way to try and be incognito. I was one of the two main bartenders along with an actor named Arch Whiting, who was down the other end (of the bar). He worked on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Batman, just about any series at that time. Mike McLean was a casting guy at 20th, and he used to call for Arch. I knew the routine. He'd call Arch and ask, "You available - I've got one line for Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea." I was a little jealous and I never really loved Arch that much. So one day, Arch goes to the bathroom and the phone rang. It's Mike from 20th and he's looking for Arch. I said, "No, he's on vacation in Mexico. What are you calling for?" And he said he had something for him for Batman. And I says, "Hey, I did eight Naked City's for Gold Medal" - knowing that Gold Medals Studios in New York had burnt down, and they can't get the footage to check me out. I said, "I'm a hell of an actor." And he said, "Pay is 150 bucks and it's two lines." And that was my first gig. I stole the Batman gig and it turned out it was a two-partner where they introduced The Green Hornet and Bruce Lee, who ended up teaching my kids martial arts. So yeah, it was funny - when they called and asked if I wanted to be in this picture, I flashed back on 1966. So this is fun.

Do you have any special memories from your Batman TV series experience?

Alex Rocco: Adam West was terrific. The kiddo that was a pain in the ass was Robin. The director would say "Grab his wrist and hold him up against the wall," and then the kid would whine, "He hit my wrist." And Adam looked at me and said "He does it to every actor." I remember the villain Roger C. Carmel, and Julie Newmar was on set. Oh man, Julie Newmar -- I had such a crush on her. She was in costume in the commissary, and I was just smitten.

Did you ever read comics?

Alex Rocco: As a kid, I'd go down to Murray's Drugstore in Boston - I'd just kind of turn the rack around and around, looking at all the comic books. I'd buy them and read them, then me and my buddies would trade them. I never did think of them as a collectors' item, but I loved buying them. I had great Batmans and Supermans, and I always thought they were better than baseball cards. It was fun getting baseball cards, but a comic book is an adventure. I liked Captain Marvel and Superman, as well as Batman. I've got to admit that I learned a lot from reading this script - I never really knew Batman's whole backstory with the death of his parents, all of that. I was really drawn in. Now I want to know more about Bruce Wayne in this mythology. When I was a kid, though, it was Captain Marvel - because he was the one that, when he said "Shazam," he would change. It was magical. And he's always looked nice. I've always wanted to look like Captain Marvel. So my favorites were Captain Marvel, Superman and Batman. And I've got a little bit of love for Wonder Woman because, you know, just look at her. Plus she's got an invisible plane. How can you beat that?

Batman: Year One arrives October 18, 2011 from Warner Home Video as a Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD, On Demand and for Download. Batman: Year One is now also be available in a special download-for-purchase early window (starting October 11) through iTunes, Xbox Live, Zune, VUDU HD Movies and Video Unlimited on the PlayStation Network & Sony Entertainment Network.
