Extra Exclusive: J.Lo Teaches Maria Menounos the Booty Shake!

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 10:57 AM PDT

Jennifer Lopez recently gave "Extra" host Maria Menounos a very sexy lesson on what Lopez coined, "the booty shake." The singer, who couldn't demonstrate the moves due to what she was wearing, told Maria, "I can't show you now, 'cause this is like a prom dress... [but] I can tell you this: it's all in the knees. Shake your knees."

After Maria gave it a shot, Jennifer smiled, "Pretty good... the whole room is like, 'Yeah, I love you!'"

The star, who recently sat down exclusively with "Extra," talked about moving on from her split with Marc Anthony, and putting those breakup headlines behind her. "You keep going, and that's what it is."

When Menounos asked where her "toughness" comes from, Lopez laughed, "My mom! My family... you know, they're there during the hard times. The babies... it's like I'm strong for them... you know... love."

Speaking of her twins, Max and Emme, 3, Jennifer proudly gushed, "They're both very musical. I think Emme has a voice... really has a voice, but she doesn't like to sing right now, but when she sings, you're like, 'Okay! She has a little vibrato there!'"

Lopez, who is psyched to do a music video with Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am and Mick Jagger, revealed, "Will was like, 'Yeah, man, I want you to do it, we have Mick Jagger on the record,' [and] I was like, 'Wow.'" The singer added, "You know what? It's a hot song!"

The song, "Hard," will reportedly be on will.i.am's upcoming "Black Einstein" solo album.

Iron Man 3 to Get a Governor's Welcome

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 10:04 AM PDT

Latino Review was the first to announce that Michigan had lost out on Iron Man 3 to Wilmington, NC. Since then, nobody for the film industry of North Carolina or Marvel has confirmed that information. The lack of a confirmation is surely caused by the two sides needing to dot all their I's and cross all their T's. Also, if the sources are accurate, the code name for Iron Man 3 will be "Caged Heat." A name that is sure to invoke steamy imagery of a female prison, as that was the name of movie that gave late night Cinemax it's reputation. wwaytv3.com Gov. Bev Perdue has scheduled a 2:30 p.m. news conference for "an economic development announcement" at Screen Gems Studios. In a news release, Screen Gems called said the governor "will announce exciting job and film industry news for EUE/Screen Gems Studios' Wilmington film production facility." Steven Tyler Blames Hotel Fall on Bad Food, Not Drugs

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 10:33 AM PDT

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler called in to the "Today" show Thursday and assured host Matt Lauer and fans that his recent slip in a Paraguay hotel room shower did not have anything to do with him falling off the wagon. Via a phone interview from Argentina, where the band is performing, the rocker explained, "I started to get sick, and I just fell on my face. I just passed out." Tyler said the fall caused him to wind up getting four stitches above his eye and plastic surgery to get a tooth fixed. The "American Idol" judge insisted it was from food poisoning, not his ongoing recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, which caused him to pass out. "I get that people think that," he said of the assumption that it was from the latter, adding, "It still bothers me a little, but it's something that I have to deal with for the rest of my life." Frankenweenie EW Production and Character Photos

Three new photos have been released from the stop-motion animated tale Frankenweenie, which hits theaters nationwide October 5, 2012. Take a look at these production and character images below, and read on for some of the history behind Tim Burton's latest project.

Frankenweenie began with a live-action short Tim Burton made in 1984, which ended up costing the director his job as an artist at Walt Disney. Here's what Tim Burton had to say about the original concept of Frankenweenie, which centers on a boy's first pet, as told with a genre spin.

"It just tries to keep that idea of a very, simple pure relationship. Mix that with the Frankenstein myth, and it causes problems. It has its good side and repercussions. Ultimately, we try to go with the slightly more positive aspects of keeping that [boy-and-his-dog] relationship going."

Tim Burton also talked about being fired from Disney for making the original Frankenweenie short film.

"I don't know, they got freaked out or something, but they still allowed me to make the film. Even though I was frustrated about the release - or not release of it - it was still a great experience, and did a lot for me, so I couldn't really complain."

The director also said Frankenweenie sprung from his own first-pet experience as a child growing up in Burbank.

"It's such an unconditional relationship. A lot of kids have that experience - I certainly had that experience with a first pet. You'll probably never have it again in your life in that way, it's so pure and memorable."

Frankenweenie comes to theaters October 5th, 2012 and stars Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell. The film is directed by Tim Burton.

Any love for Lone Star (1996)? I think it has an incredibly tight story and cast, and those cross-time scene transitions are seamless.

I watched the Time Machine (2002) today, here's my thoughts on a few morality issues I found with it.

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 09:28 AM PDT

So I watched the 2002 film adaptation of the Time Machine today. It's all very well and set up as a run-of-the-mill sci-fi/action film, but there were a few morality based issues with the final scene which bugged me (especially with the fight that happens after the first clip. And, like any other bored philosophy nerd who spends too much time on the internet, I thought I'd consult Reddit about your views on this moral conundrum.

So, basically.

I won't go into detail about this film's exact plot, since it'd make this post longer than it should be (although if you haven't seen this film you can fill yourself in by watching the clips I posted in the previous paragraph). However, the issue I have with this film is that the Morlocks are quite obviously set up to be the bad guys. However, when you listen to the Über Morlock's speech in the climax scene of the movie, there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of evil in what he's saying - simply describing a race descended from humans who are attempting to survive in a world that has become uninhabitable for their ancestors. Obviously, the more human-looking characters (Eloi I think they're called) will have a minor issue with being hunted for food by the Morlocks (presumably something they're doing out of necessity rather than malice), but from a Utilitarian viewpoint, it seems a bit daft to portray the majority race as the barbaric villains (it's implied by the Über Morlock that only a small amount of humans evolved into Eloi).

Now, there's that minor issue dealt with, and I probably could've dismissed the film as just another hollywood action movie, but this is where the morality in this movie goes completely tits up. After Über Morlock gives Alexander a perfectly rational, reasoned answer as to why he can't stop his girlfriend from dying and then grants him permission to leave, rather than accepting what's inevitable and returning to his own time like any sensible time traveler would do, he turns around and attacks Über Morlock, completely unprovoked, kills him, and then destroys the entire Morlock species. This presumably can only be because the way Morlock society works doesn't fit in with human values. I know a movie director would probably tell me that the Morlocks were the villains anyway and so they all deserved to die, but I simply can't accept that - which is where I ask you, reddit - your opinions? It'd be cool to exchange some ideas about this.

Of course it could be, and most likely is, just down to silly film directors trying to make a good action movie with clearly defined heroes and villains, regardless of how much they bastardise HG Wells' original works. Any morality is awesome when you're in Hollywood.

Oh yeah, and then there's the fact that Morlocks have evolved into hideous-looking troglodytes that are almost like wild animals, whilst the Eloi remain looking like quite gentle humans (reminds me of how the villains in Disney's Aladdin all have funny accents and grotesque faces whilst all the protagonists have gentle Caucasian faces and American accents).

And why doesn't Alexander cross paths with his past self when he goes back in time to meet Emma?

And where the fuck's my coffee?

This film is silly.

I'm really surprised and disappointed at the lack of love for Moneyball.

I want to start off by saying that I don't like baseball. But god damn it I loved this movie.

Moneyball is one of the best movies I've seen this year. Why isn't there any love for this movie?

In Sweden, Mel Brooks' movies are titled almost entirely with "Springtime For.."

Posted: 27 Oct 2011 09:01 AM PDT

Very, very strange.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Producers_(1968_film)#Release

In Sweden, however, the title [of The Producers] literally translates as "Springtime For Hitler". As a result of its success, all but two of Mel Brooks movies in Swedish have been given similar titles: "Springtime For Mother-In-Law" (The Twelve Chairs); "Springtime For The Sheriff" (Blazing Saddles); "Springtime For Frankenstein" (Young Frankenstein); "Springtime For The Silent Movies" (Silent Movie); "Springtime For The Lunatics" (High Anxiety); "Springtime For World History" (History of the World, Part I); "Springtime For Space" (Space Balls); and "Springtime For The Slum" (Life Stinks).
